You would learn how to work with nature with the goal of creating a renegerative landscape. <br/><br/>Why regerative? <br/>Once you get the system working for itself, you would reduce the need for synthetic inputs to be integrated into your system reducing costs and improving fertility overtime.<br/><br/>You could start collecting byproducts that otherwise would be discarded. You could utilize the byproducts in your lawncare or landscaping business to further create additional biological products that could be offered.<br/><br/>Some options you could create and offer would be fermented plant brews, mulch, compost, biochar ect for local applications.<br/><br/>(Depending on what part of the cycle you harvest and ferment would determine the nutrients you would unlock for applications. Early Veg growth would result in higher in N, Flower / fruit would lean towards higher levels of P and K + in comparison) <br/><br/>All feeding back into increased biology and fertility of your soil. Even at the bare minimum, organisms themselves are comprised of Carbon and Nitrogen. Increasing biology into your soils would ditectly increase carbon in your soil, increasing your carbon credit allocation overtime. <br/><br/>Would the carbon credits make you rich over night? Not unless you scooped up a piece of property with extremely high soil organic matter. Another route would be incorporating the carbon credit allocation as part of your landscape / permaculture buisness model. <br/><br/>Example: <br/>Customer hires you for a landscape job, plan out what your customer wants. Give the option of carbon credit submission and the key selling point to them would be the additional revenue potential they would get from following the regenerative practice. Even a 75% customer / 25% buisness split for carbon credits would seem appetizing compared to 0%. The worst to happen is neither party gains additional funds, the best is you just gained a 25% split based on payout dates. (Yearly payout most likely.)<br/><br/>Soil Organic matter testing is fundamentally simple in the concept. Take a measured amount of soil, heat it up to a specific temperature for a specific time. Once the Organic matter has burned off, measure the remaining amount of your sample and subtract from the original. The difference between the two indicates the amount of Soil Organic matter that you had. Obviously this test isn&#39;t going to certified for your credits, things where you would send sample to a certified lab. It&#39;s about 99% water with a few pounds of high quality compost in a straining bag and some innoculats added to the brew. <br/><br/>Compost extract would be there better route for applications especially if you are looking for a more fungal brew to apply.<br/><br/>Benefits of extract over tea: reduced time, energy,increased nutrient density, and the biology retained during an extract is higher.<br/><br/>When brewing a tea, usually it&#39;s Aerated for 24-48 hours, by pumping air into the system you are creating a highly aerobic environment and by default volitizing nutrients amd shifting the enviorment. <br/><br/>With an extract you reduce the oxidative aspect and retain more nutrients and biology in your brew and keep it more fungal (if that&#39;s what you are looking to achieve)<br/><br/>Where the tea/extract can increase in value is when proper innoculants are introduced into the brew to get the tea/extract where you want to go for applications.<br/><br/>You can look at your compost under a microscope and easily visualize what&#39;s going on, is your compost geared more towards bacterial dominant? (Thermophilic) or is it highly fungal (Johnson Su)?<br/><br/>What food sources are you going to add to feed the biology before application? Fish hydrolosate for a fungal food or a simple sugar source to proliferate the bacteria?<br/><br/>Are you planning a soil soak or foliar application? For a soil soak, incorporating water soluble AMF powder would be a good addition to colonize with the rhizosphere. If you are doing a foliar application the AMF wouldn&#39;t necessarily be a key beneficial, you would incorporate something more along the lines of EM for the endophytic biology such as saccharomyces cerevisiae or Lactic Acid Bacteria. (Which are easy and cheap to brew).<br/><br/>Carbon credit generation takes some time and/or energy. One would have to create 1T of biochar to get the 1t credit during applications. Seems simple enough, but still takes energy and time. <br/><br/>Another route would be focusing on increasing Soill Organic Matter, season after season through cover cropping and green mulching. (Depending if the sample is a finished product or taken during the composting process)<br/><br/>Some examples would be in the Humic substances observed. Small aggregates, big aggregates and the different colors indicate different molecular composition of the materials.<br/>Golden is an indicator of heavier fulvic content while dark brown indicates heavier humic content.<br/><br/>Besides organisms and Humics, you should observe generally hyaline (clear) granular objects that indicate minerals present in your sample. These are going to be obvious in size compared to a fungal spore or bacteria.<br/><br/>In the case of fungi you are looking typically for uniform segments of hyphae that often include segments through the structure, they often look like different compartments within the strand. (One aspect to think about when taking your sample is the amount of agitation being done, a more gentle approach typically keeps longer fungal segments in tact. A more aggressive approach causes the segments to break easier)<br/><br/>Take note of the amount observed. This could be as simple as: low, medium, high amount observed. <br/><br/>Fungal spores present is another aspect to look at. If you take a moment and analyze testate amobae in your sample, often you will see fungal spores inside. This is just one indication of active nutrient cycling taking place.<br/><br/>Each worm casting / vermicompost diet would produce different results in your analysis. Particles vary in size, not ideal for fine mist sprayers or a system that can clog easily (Propagules = cheaper price)<br/><br/>2: WP (Wettable Powder) if you plan on applying compost tea or #biofertilizers, this would be a good product to look into. Mix some powder into your brew to be applied and water in. Same concept applies for the activation of the sporesin regards to needing roots to create a relationship with. (WP = Higher price)<br/><br/>Teaming with AMF, will increase the root surface area of your plants in turn increasing your soil organic matter over the growing seasons. <br/><br/>One caveat with &#34;Root fungus&#34; is they need living roots to coninually grow and stay active, if you can maintain covercropping (or no till) there should be a continual supply of spores in the #rhizosphere season after season reducing your input cost while maintaining the benefits.
