Geniunely the first time I've encountered it—I absolutely agree with you, reasonable people can have a discussion about exactly 'who's to blame' for the state of things, but it's just bananas to put it out on the main channel.

My (Canadian) instance's admin just used the official maintenance channel to declare that all Americans, whether MAGA, antifa, elderly, young, disabled, whatever, can go fuck themselves.
People ask me why I use Bluesky more than Mastodon. In the past, I've said it's because people on Mastodon are by and large mostly snooty Linux users who just want to tell you you're using the wrong software. In short, because 'Mastodon users are assholes'.
Evidently, I was unaware of the degree. #mstdnca
