Could you have things muted? Notifications from muted users or that contain muted words won't show up

I'm going to say what I'm thinking, and then I hope I don't need to say anything else on this matter. I have learned over the years that infighting genuinely makes me sick to my stomach, which is why I typically keep a more background role on this platform. I also realize the more I say, the more some women want to fight. Anything I say will certainly be spun as evidence to further the conclusion they have already reached. That's fine. I'm talking to those who are curious and willing to listen.

**"Russian bots are invading Spinster!"**
We have multiple anti-bot protections on sign up, including captcha, 2-step verification which requires confirming email, and an application question that is manually reviewed by me, personally. And anyway, why would Russian bots pretend to be Russian when they could be anything??

**"But is it a coincidence they are all Russian?"**
Russian may be the common language many new users speak, but many have already told us they are NOT in fact Russian and come from many former USSR counties. I have seem multiple other languages discussed including Belarusian and Armenian.

**"They are spreading pro-Russian propaganda!"**
If you translate their posts and memes, many are actually speaking out against the Russian government including criticism of homophobia and anti-women policies and practices. Many are also speaking on how their country as a whole is oppressed by Russia.

**"They are sowing discord among Spinsters!"**
The only fights I have seen were started by one particular American Spinster who could not understand translations and refused multiple attempts at deescalation and from both myself and the women she was fighting. She has been successful at sowing discord among a small minority of Spinsters, yet I would never accuse her of being a CIA or KGB plant.

**"They are secretly men"**
I have never confirmed the sex of any of our Spinster users, unless I happened to have the pleasure of actually meeting you IRL. For all I know, you're all men. However, I have seen this pattern before of young (often lesbian, autistic, into anime) women joining Spinster and immediately being accused of being male. In the early days of Spinster, some of you may remember that you even bullied one of our mods off this way. And she WAS a woman. The bullies here are simply frustrated that now they are outnumbered.

**"They came here bc Spinster banned Poast!!"**
No, in fact I banned Poast after 100 new women had already joined because their admin was encouraging harassment of the new users.

**"But just look at the sheer numbers! Where did they come from! They have more followers than Spinster has users!"**
It's true that the number of active users on Spinster has nearly doubled in the past week - up from around 370 on average to 600-something, last I looked. The migration first started from a Twitter thread, where one user very helpfully explained about Spinster to her followers. This thread was widely shared, and word spread to other platforms. I have personally seen this thread and engaged with the users on Twitter. I RTed it, you can find it if you care to look. Then, a popular feminist blogger who runs a telegram room shared it to her room. That chat has over 1000 women in it, and it seems like a fraction of them have decided to join here as well. I personally read through (translated) months of content from the telegram room.

**"You are trying to censor dissent!"**
I have not taken moderation action on any part of this debate. I have privately spoken to women on both sides of the conflict to get more information and ask for deescalation, and occasionally commented on threads where I was tagged.

**"I saw content that doesn't belong on Spinster!"**
Please report any violating content, and the rules will be enforced as always. Out of 300 new accounts, I wouldn't be surprised if a few don't belong. But you can't judge 300 women by the actions of one account.

**"But what if you're wrong?"**
Then we had some excitement and learned a few words in another language.

**"But I miss how Spinster used to be!"**
Spinster was never meant to be a private chat room between you and your pals, and I'm sorry if I ever gave that impression. I created Spinster to be a space for women around the world to connect with other like-minded feminists and be free from Big Tech censorship. If a new group of women have found value in that, I'm proud.

**"I'm sorry, but I still can't agree with you or these answers"**
That's fine, you don't have to agree! I am simply laying out what I think on the matter. You may continue to block whoever you want, or even go set up a new server. I actually think that's a great idea.
