I can say of myself that I am a pretty naive person. I tend to believe spontaneously people when they tell me something.

I can also say of myself that I am relatively slow to understand. I tend do ask naive questions when the meaning of something is not clear to me.

I happen to be mocked for this.
For a long time, I believed that I was the issue. I did not have enough legitimacy. I did not have enough culture. My questions were poorly phrased. I was simply not enough.
However, despite my auto-repression self protective system not to look dumb, a part of me would occasionally find the crack to let a silly question go out.

It was only when I was able to go over the embarrassment phase, when I found the courage to insist, or even ask further questions to understand better, that I could realize that the person in front of me actually did not have the answers. That their understanding was quite superficial. And that their mocking was essentially their own protective system, a reverse mirror of mine.
Those experiences, first unconscious, are what let this part of me keep a tiny room.

As I become more mature emotionally, I can see it with more clarity. Accept it. Stand by it. Love it. I even chose to give it more space.

We should never be afraid to ask questions.

It is still a work of understanding in progress, but as I see it, modern states are byproducts of capitalism, not opposing structures.

The following note dives into it.
I would add an historical perspective that modern states and democracies were established by what I would call a oligopoly of bourgeois employers accessing power thanks to the industrial revolution and creating a settlement institution for themselves. In the name of the people, but with an entry price (cens).

The regulations you are pointing to are not anti capitalist constraints imposed from outside the system. They are capitalist behaviors expressed through the state. Capital does not invade government accidentally. It does so because it is profitable.

This is why food insecurity and healthcare failures exist inside wealthy capitalist nations. Healthcare markets optimize for revenue rather than outcomes as documented by the World Health Organization and the Commonwealth Fund. Food systems prioritize shareholder value resulting in both massive waste and widespread hunger. Market choice disappears when industries consolidate, something the Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice openly acknowledge has accelerated.

Saying real capitalism would wipe out big business ignores history. Unregulated capitalism has never remained competitive for long. It tends toward monopoly because scale, capital accumulation, and political leverage are competitive advantages. If capitalism were self correcting, it would not require perpetual bailouts, repeated antitrust interventions, or constant state support to prevent collapse. The fact that it does is evidence that the outcomes being criticized are not a deviation from capitalism but its mature form. Capitalism concentrated wealth beyond our imaginations. We live in a post scarcity environment where victims of capitalism and socio economic factors alike keep hundreds of millions unhoused, hungry and sick while the capitalist owners, that by nature produce nothing (proof of work) and only extract value through rent seeking behaviors, enjoy socialist benefits provided by and extracted from the workers that produce all of the things of value that we use. It’s become very common for the capitalist to rage against socialism while they enjoy all of our socialist benefits and initiatives while insisting that the rest of society must stick to raw unfettered capitalism. It’s also very common now for uneducated and ill informed workers to defend capitalism and vote against their own self interest as well. Capitalism only favors those who have breached a certain threshold of accumulation which is only achieved and made possible through extortion of the worker.

I totally agree.

What I am looking for is indeed a free society, and the question of what would be the necessary foundations for it. So I have looked into many systems and anarcho communism seems to be the closest thing to a free society I have found.

What brought me there is the often missing question of how to prevent a few people to take power over others. If this question does not have a solid answer, we can open spaces for freedom only until it is overtaken.
Anarcho capitalism fails to answer this (how to prevent monopoly in a free market).

If some people fall under the power of others, my freedom is threatened by this growing power.
In order to be lastingly free, I need everyone to be free too.

I do not agree with that.
Ruling by fear and violence is what we human are constantly doing, with this tale that this or that violence will be the last. But it will not. It always creates just another cycle of grief, pain and violence. Offenders have children, families, active roles in communities. Furthermore, fear has very often (if not always) been proven ineffective in the long run.

But I would not expect spontaneous change in the goodness of aggressors' heart. And I really like the idea of a clear removal of violent people, as stated in your other post about matriarchy. I absolutely agree we need this.

I would rather suggest a real investment of the whole society on this cancer, at least giving a choice: surveiled real therapy or capital punishment. Just as we should investigate more (or just stop blinding ourselves) on the roots and causes of cancer. Learn, do prevention, and treat.

Not sure it answers directly your question, but I am reading Graeber & Wnegrow's The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity, and one point is that the human experience has been way richer than commonly taught, and we have already reached high levels of cooperations in very different ways. One way to get the "right" balance seems to have been to embrace seasonal changes in semi nomadic peoples, like getting the institution for big/huge gathering (winter) and destroying it every summer, with different mechanisms such as rotating the winter ruling tribe...

But modernity is very different especially in that we have less and less individual space to split and are mainly settled... Anyway these experiences can be sources of inspiration to resolve our current paradox: alternating rulers (not the same as voting for them), alternating the very structure of society...

My second one on macos for 12 years.
My third one is the second transitioned to #linux.

Fisrt installed kubuntu. Struggled to make everything work (especially wifi and touchpad gestures). Got insecure for adfing many packages and user rights, and fed up by the ui and the multiple layers of information (and forums) to go through. Learnt a lot though.

Then started over with #ubuntu, ready to fight. But everything worked like a breeze, no further "manual"/cli action to take.

It feels like windows vs. macos on ui and ux.

My main point being that no limit to power makes anarchism impossible, in that case power being essentially capital, how would you limit the concentration of power-capital without governements/states?

If you could design the main asset of such a society to be anti concentration, you might have something that holds.
If the main asset is money, and you distribute its creation for ever, then no one can cease it all (or an overwhelming part of it) and you get a balance of power by design.

Cryptocurrencies give a great advantage to defence via personal holding of private keys. Bitcoin does that. This advantage is reinforced by privacy.
As for distribution/creation, it should be infinite but with strictly limited inflation. Monero does that, but the more advanced work I have seen on this topic is "the relative theory of money", only in french here: http://trm.creationmonetaire.info/index.html

All of this makes me actually think that under certain conditions, anarcho-capitalism could be a thing...

From what I understand, combining anarchism and capitalist makes you abolish the state and let free markets organise all aspects of society, based on the foundation of private property. So on top of that everything is based on private interactions (private courts, private police, etc.).

Being closer from this or other forms of anarchism is your say. For instance you can have anarcho-communism, which is based on commons but with no centralization by a state. And a lot of possibilies between the two.
Other people argue that the state is inevitable if defined as how people organize together as a society... In this case the question becomes how to have an anarchist state, ie a state without a ruler.

The relation I can come with between bitcoin is consciousness is that the tools that we use contribute to shape our mind. So if using bitcoin makes you be more conscious about what money is and how it works, and if being more conscious about that is the reason why bitcoin was invented in the first place, then bitcoin can contribute to higher consciousness... about money. Which is actually what any tool do more or less abpit its purpose.

Maybe this is the reason why I and other people find #nostr energising : here does exist "critical hope" when it seems that everywhere else only remains cynicism.

I never watched the show cited in the article but I did use to believe that progress (towards freedom for all, peace, etc.) was inevitable. Then came delusion with darkened perspectives for the future. And I was never really involved in social media before I discovered nostr protocol.

Here people are very critical, yet building things. Here people have revolutionary tools with nostr and bitcoin. Here I find people who keep trying and give me hope in the future again.

I did not even realize this was a kind of "coming out" until you named it. I understand the whole idea behind it is to choose to assert myself no matter if somebody cares or not. It is actually mostly about being true to myself...
Nostr helps me in the sense that here more than anywhere else online I can feel the possibility and freedom to be myself, because being uncensorable is rooted in the protocol and expressed by many people here.

Of course I want to be seen and loved, and find people I resonate with, and you make me feel just that. But at the same time it is a bonus in the process!

My smoothest experience with wallet and nostr was using coinos.io and connecting it via nostr wallet connect on Amethyst, if it helps!

I had been trying to find my place on nostr, but only showing one facett of myself. You know, the good one, the strong, positive and well thought out one.

Of course it is of limited interest to anyone. Who want to talk with semi people? And what does it bring to me?

The truth is, I am strong. And I am weak too.

I worked my ass off for ten years trying to promote fairness and transparency in finance, with very moderate success, buying in the startup fashion. Then, two and a half years ago, my doctor diagnosed me with "burnout". Or more precisely, asthenia and anxiety.

Following the birth of my first child, we had just moved to the countryside, and I had decided to take care of the construction work of our old house myself. We were expecting our second child. Additionaly, my work with my company was buried with a shitload of stupid bureaucratic issues. It had become too much.

What once seemed like everything is possible had become excessively challenging.

Since then it's been quite a journey: becoming dad a second time, succeeding in selling my company, living in a work-sometimes-in-progress house, dealing with high variations of energy that turn the planning of anything into nothing but a bet.

I am currently a divided person working on (re)uniting myself. One part of me is only love, faith and trust in the process. The other part is struggling with day to day life with significantly decreased cognitive capacities (especially memory and focus).

But all of this is good. This is my path. I am in a place where I have to and get to say "no" to more things. All these nos leading to the big yes of me.
Strangely, the spirit on nostr is helping me with all of it. Thank you all.

So I am slowly but surely going all in for freedom, consciousness, privacy, transparency, nature, spirituality, open source, decentralisation, sovereignty, sharing... Everything is connected anyway.

In the end, the underlying question is the same, something like : " what do you want to experiment/live/feel in that special moment? I am making myself totally available to you for that, as far as it is possible"

Voici un petit aperçu de ce que je fabrique

Je suis en train de construire un outil de référencement collectif de marques et fabricants proposant des produits 100 % en matière naturelle (ce qui veut essentiellement dire "sans plastique").

Voici les étapes de ma progression ces dernières semaines en tant que non développeur pour créer cela tout en privilégiant des outils open source.

Etape 1 : faisons simple, du texte organisé

J'ai commencé par réunir mes idées dans Anytype. Leur approche "tout est un objet" laisse une flexibilité incroyable pour organiser ses données. On peut s'en servir comme simple outil de prise de note ou comme outil de gestion de projet. Le fonctionnement "local first" de l'application me donne la main sur mes données : elles sont stockées en local sur mon ordinateur et mon téléphone, qui se synchronisent entre eux.

Anytype permet depuis peu de publier sur Internet les "objets" de son choix (pages, notes, albums…) mais cela reste limité pour proposer à des visiteur une navigation fluide entre des objets liés (dans mon cas des marques et des matières par exemple). De plus, il n'est pas encore possible d'y automatiser la mise en forme de contenus à partir de données.

Ainsi, après avoir réuni les informations et préparé les contenus "à la main" pour trois marques seulement dans Anytype, j'ai eu besoin d'automatisation, et donc d'une vraie base de données. Je conserve quand même Anytype pour organiser mes idées et la suite du projet. Je l'utilise aussi pour la vie quotidienne (liste de course partagée, journal…).

Etape 2 : structurons une base de données

Baserow est une alternative à Airtable qui permet de gérer une base de données comme un tableur. Les formules utilisables dans les tableaux m'ont aidé à générer automatiquement les contenus de marque à partir des données que je réunissais. J'ai obtenu des données bien ordonnés dans de beaux tableaux sans avoir plus besoin de réécrire tout le contenu pour chaque marque.

J'ai passé un peu de temps à apprendre la syntaxe des formules de Baserow, j'ai mis à jour le contenu des trois premières marques, généré automatiquement celui d'une quatrième et… je me suis rendu compte que ça n'allait pas le faire.

Un point crucial de mon projet est la gestion et l'affichage des catégories de produits proposés par chaque marque, histoire que cela soit pratique de trouver les alternatives naturelles pour ce que l'on cherche sur le site. Or, dans Baserow il n'y avait pas moyen de générer mes contenus catégorisés de manière dynamique. J'étais contraint de modifier sans cesse des formules de plus en plus complexes, et donc avec un risque d'erreur de plus en plus grand. Cela reste un tableur, plus net pour gérer des données, mais moins fourni en termes de formules.

Avec une seule marque traitée en plus, mon "backend" v2 n'aura pas duré longtemps !

Etape 3 : courage, passons aux choses sérieuses

A ce moment là, j'ai sérieusement douté de ma capacité a créer ce site avec des outils open source et j'ai été tenté de retourner vers Bubble. À mon avis, Bubble est l'outil "no code" (ou de "programmation visuelle") le plus abouti. Je l'avais déjà utilisé efficacement avec We Do Good pour réaliser des prototypes de fonctionnalités, même utilisés provisoirement en production.

C'est génial, avec Bubble, des semaines de travail classique entre développeurs et designers pour arriver à une version utilisable se transforment en heures, voire en jours pour tester et valider des prototypes.

Mais… avec Bubble on n'a pas accès à ce qui se passe derrière l'interface de programmation. On devient en fait prisonnier de leur langage de programmation propriétaire. Si on a besoin de faire différemment, s'ils augmentent leurs prix de manière inadaptée, ou si un blocage se présente pour une autre raison, il faut tout refaire à zéro ou faire développer des nouvelles fonctionnalités (plugins) qui enrichissent Bubble.

J'ai alors décidé de passé au niveau supérieur en terme de technicité, avec des outils tout de même accessible aux non initiés motivés : une base de données dans Supabase connectée à une interface créée avec Plasmic. Avec Supabase j'ai accès aux paramétrages les plus fins sur les données et avec Plamic je construis visuellement ce dont j'ai besoin, comme avec Bubble.

Malgré l'interface visuelle très complètes de Plasmic, certaines fonctions dont j'ai besoin demandent des formules personnalisées utilisant un peu de code. L'avantage, c'est que là ou j'avais appris le language Bubble utilisable seulement avec Bubble, j'apprends maintenant les languages ouverts et universels du web sql et javascript, avec un peu d'aide de l'"IA" pour comprendre les fonctions et erreurs de syntaxe.

J'apprendre en faisant directement ce que j'ai envie, et c'est beaucoup plus efficace et motivant !

Plasmic me laisse aussi récupérer et réutiliser l'ensemble du code source ailleurs si j'en ai besoin un jour.

Je devais en passer par là

Chaque version de mon "backend" a été utile et même nécessaire à la suivante.

Avec mon expérience d'entrepreneur du web, je sentais depuis le départ que j'aurais besoin d'une solution robuste de base de données ainsi que de pouvoir intervenir sur le code facilement. Cependant, au démarrage, je n'avais pas envie de me plonger là-dedans. Finalement, bien m'en a pris ! La structuration de données que j'avais initialement imaginée est très différente de celle à laquelle j'arrive maintenant.

Je n'aurais pas eu une base de données claire et bien organisée dans Supabase si je n'avais pas fait précédemment une itération dans Baserow. Je n'aurais pas créé les tables et liaisons utiles dans Baserow si je n'avais pas créé les premiers contenus sous forme de texte avec liaisons dans Anytype.

De plus, je n'aurais pas trouvé l'énergie de me lancer sur ce nouveau projet si je n'avais pas commencé par une version très simple et non "scalable". C'est un vrai progrès personnel : j'ai toujours travaillé en essayant de concevoir le maximum de choses d'avances, pour me rassurer et limiter les risques, et parce que c'est ce qu'on apprend à l'école. Les problèmes, c'est que je dépensais pour cela une énergie folle et que bien sûr, la réalité ne correspond jamais vraiment aux prévisions.

En me lançant avec une première version pas du tout aboutie mais fonctionnelle, je me suis autorisé à faire plus d'erreur, à m'exposer et à me concentrer sur du concret.

J'ai aussi testé ou envisagé sans les retenir quelques autres solutions comme WordPress ou Silex. Provisoirement, en attendant d'avoir créé toutes les interfaces dont j'ai besoin avec Plasmic, j'utilise NocoDB, connecté à Supabase, pour disposer d'une interface visuelle équivalente à Baserow (avec des formules moins avancées mais la possibilité de me connecter plusieurs bases de données si besoin).

J'utilise beaucoup Alternative.to pour trouver les outils dont j'ai besoin, on y peut filtrer les applications selon de nombreux critère, je le recommande.

Ensuite, il faut tester et se lancer, voire tester en se lançant !
