But educated parents means educated adults, and educated adults means less citizens failing for fake news that those companies and billionaires push on people in order to control them.

My e-mail client is, at the moment, Thunderbird. I already moved from Firefox, I just need a new e-mail client, so, Delta could work for me like Signal worked as a SMS messaging app in the past, but for e-mail, then, if someone actually uses Delta, messages would be encrypted, otherwise, business as usual. Although, in the last years, I don't remember using e-mail a lot for person-to-person messaging, last time it was my teacher asking for some documents to be sent on his .edu e-mail, but just that, most e-mail I exchange is machine-to-person transactional email, and I don't expect those kind of e-mail to ever use Delta Chat.

Even so, it seems weird since those apps are third party and some users might think they aren't. Anyway, I will look more into Delta later, from the apps I tested recently it was the one I gave most time checking it but since I could not send message from it to other e-mail service, I kinda gave up from it. I guess I misunderstood it.

But, every time I see people putting Telegram above other app (mainly Signal) due to extra features, I only notice those people don't prioritize privacy.

I tried Delta Chat, I checked some apps, but seeing the large amount of apps made to encrypt things (which should be the job of the main app, not the sub apps) made me worry. Despite all layers of security it applies to those apps, how are users expected to thrust those apps crypto? What if they are using Blowfish or something worse? As for the games, those were funny.

Privacy-unaware people would skip it, from the rest, those skimming over it the webpage would be afraid of it using e-mail, and those reading the FAQ would notice it doesn't support Signal's sealed senders (or a similar feature) yet, making it look inferior.

As for me, webxdc apps makes me as adverse to it like when Signal added payments: it sounds like feature creep, and IMHO it means developers are spending time with things that should not be the focus. As the Unix philosophy says: "do one thing and do it well". 😕

IIRC that's why Signal implements deniable authentication. One thing I would love to implement on a Signal client (or on the official one) is the possibility to a user to edit any message in the history, thus, making screenshots of message logs completely pointless, as those can be easily forged.

WhatsApp also implements deniable authentication but message logs from it are used and considered proof in courts (unless someone detects device rooting or similar). So, it's useless in practice.

For the last days I was thinking about Signal alternatives. Signal is great, but I have some issues with it:
It does not play with Keyoxide, so someone may impersonate me. Sure, one can go to my website and get my Signal username, but it moves the validation up to "is that the correct website?", which can be verified with Keyoxide, but that's not ideal.

It's centralized, which, in fairness, it's not that bad since it does have E2EE and a lot of security measures and it's open-source, but, again, it's not ideal.

Third party clients are not allowed, which, for me, is not a good think considering that, if you should not trust the server, people should not trust the code and edit and compile their own clients (with a huge asterisk... for the next toot).

#signal

I don't know, Mastodon is just... smaller? If you want numbers, go to bigger websites, simple as that. I'm here for other reasons, I even disabled those numbers in my Mastodon client.

It seems kinda retro nowadays. Well, it fits him, sure.

That being said there are a lot of things here that accept something akin to "a chip on your car". Like, a lot: make an account with them, they stick a chip on your car and then don't worry about having to stop to pay parking on most malls in my city nor for toll roads. I don't use it, I don't really need it, but I notice a lot of people do.

It's weird how a smartphone is replacing my wallet: I have almost all my documents in digital form with two passwords to access. I don't use a credit card, I do all my payments using my phone using a system that's so populated that everyone and their dog accepts. Nowadays a phone can replace house and car keys, add a Home Assistant integration for good measure. Using paper money makes me think I'm a criminal trying to hide my tracks.
