He's right about the need for social housing but doesn't even mention other measures to restrict property price inflation. For example, Land Value Tax - so property developers wouldn't be able to landbank for free - swingeing taxes on second homes, removing foreign investors from the market by restricting ownership to citizens ( works a treat in Thailand).

And so the cause is NOT all down to women getting into the workforce.

Excellent, clear exposition. Once upon a time The Observer used to print this kind of thing ( usually with Neil Ascherson's byline) but you can read miles of newsprint nowadays without finding any analysis even a tenth as intelligent.
