Construction Delays</p> <p>We initially planned to begin construction in Q1 2026. This is no longer possible due to a boundary discrepancy between municipal records and on-site reality: part of the land identified for purchase includes a public street. We flagged this early but it was only picked-up on by the municipality during final surveys and conveyancing. We are now proceeding with subdivision and a general plan amendment so the municipality retains ownership of the road and infrastructure.</p> <p>The impact is primarily time, not cost. These processes will extend into 2026, delaying construction by roughly one year. We now aim to begin in early 2027. This correction is necessary to ensure legal accuracy. Importantly, our agreement with the local municipality to purchase the land at 90% below market value remains unchanged. Construction will proceed. While we could build elsewhere sooner, this location is worth waiting for.</p> <p>2. Phased Construction Approach</p> <p>Phase 0: Site preparation</p> <p>Phase 1: Core facility (offices, classrooms, meetup space, thrift shop, reception)</p> <p>Phases 2–4: Accommodation, expanded venue (100–150 capacity), maker/workshop spaces, recycling station</p> <p>Funding for phases 0 and 1 is secured while phases 2-4 require additional funding. However, phase 1 alone will already significantly improve current operations. We need not expand beyond phase 1 to begin operating from a much improved center.</p> <p>3. Building Plans</p> <p>Plans (attached) cover all phases. Buildings will be constructed on stilts due to uneven terrain, drastically reducing costs. Plans are final, pending approval. All architectural fees have been paid in Bitcoin, and we are exploring the same with builders. Local labour will be recruited as far as possible with most (if not all) of the wages paid in Bitcoin.</p> <p>4. Fundraising &amp; Sustainability</p> <p>Additionally, it is worth highlighting that the plans are designed such that the construction gains maximum visibility from the very popular nearby Diaz Beach. For additional fundraising, to complete phases 2 - 4, and for long term sustainability, we&#39;ll give vetted Bitcoin companies that donate to our cause the opportunity to display their brands / logos on the highly visible walls of our new Ekasi center! Long-term Purpose</p> <p>The New Bitcoin Ekasi Center will replace our current Ekasi Center, workshop, and thrift shop. It will consolidate our offices, Bitcoin Diploma and Post-graduate Program, the Vuselela Recycling Project, sats-based thrift shop, and other initiatives into a single purpose-built facility.</p> <p>In addition to daily operations, the center will host community events and offer event rental to outside companies to support financial sustainability. In its final form, the facility is designed to accommodate approximately 150 people in a summit or mini-conference setup.
