genuine main reason why i stopped using truefans. part of it was i found the layout really confusing. it always felt i couldn't just see newest episodes. but that was ok.

the big reason was, i walk around listening with airpods on iphone. with the app store version of truefans. press the airpods to pause the podcast because i need to think or someone talks to me.
and then press them again to unpause and it never ever does. it works if you pause and unpause within couple seconds.

Truefans kinda works but I can’t send a 2222 boost because I only have 4100 sats (???) and trying to add money I guess crashes the app. or whatever is happening. And no topup from strike but that's fine.

I counted when the data received fell under a average amount as a failure, usually that was when i heard it choppy too, and saw bandwith fall in the hetzner UI.
The script is not smart enough to show that, it just looks for basically anything above 0 sent. really i just wanted an output.

Is this a perfect test? not really. as i didnt use the icecast numbers. but this is good enough for my i think

I also tried with batche sizes of 100, 200 and 500 at once before too but that was too slow and the traffic with +1000 at once seemed working fine.

I also forgot to take a screenshot from the mp3 so there. new test.

It is not 1to1 with how many more listeners it can handle, but it does have a limit with what it can trasmit in terms of data. less data = more listeners.

With a 2 Core Ampere VPS from Hetzner for 3,79€ A month, i can get the foillowing max listener numbers consistently:

12000 at MP3/160kbps
25000 at OPUS/64kbps
30000 at OPUS/32kbps
and that 30k only got hit because i forgot that was what my icecast config was.

Tested with a script i have made where it spins up a new wrk command with 1000 connections, and then an additional single one to see if data is sent or not.

So, it is like what i expected.

so I think an optimal solution is I set up some open source repo for a docker image. That then I can run on some 5 dollar VPS. Or someone else can get the image and run it themself.
And the Gnome extension just runs a get request to get a list of updated shows and what happened with them. To see if any of the shows you added to a list has gone live and send a notification.

And yes those are written in js but they have their own GJS runtime and I don't think you can just import random other things. Plus i dont think I would want to run Really heavy big scripts in that anyways.

What many Gnome extensions do is hit some fully free public APIs.

You can dislike the people who have moved to the Bluesky app. But the way AT protocol works is really cool to me.

It literally is a modern idea of RSS, but more extended.
Every account being it's own website is cool, you can own the data, it's signed so you can't be spoofed, you set up a relay to take in any action happening on at protocol and cache it.
And every record has it's own URI.

So you don't need any api. You just go look at feeds. If you are an app or whatever you want to do

I can't delete anything I write in it. No backspace. And also after it finished downloading and writing the image it put some text that I couldn't read because I tapped the screen to have the phone not go to sleep and oh no the terminal is gone. I'll try on a computer later.
