One of the highlights of Fleet Week was the precision flying team of the Navy Blue Angels. The Blue Angels put on a high speed areal acrobatic show that was second to none. They would fly in over the Golden Gate Bridge and proceed to dazzle the audiences with precision stunts that amazed and delighted the large crowd.

This waterfall as far as I know, has no name. I say that because this waterfall is man made on the side of a road at the Waikoloa Village golf club in Waikoloa Village.
Some people might say that this has a lesser value or meaning because it is man made. But to me that just devalues the beauty that man is able to create.

Fall color comes to Napa late in the year. At least compared to my friends in the North. The colors here start changing typically towards the end of October and seem to peak early in November.
This is the entrance to Heitz Cellars. The palm line the driveway up to an evergreen all while being surrounded by grape vines.

People it seems are drawn to order. Check the right box, everything in its place, so on and so forth.
Turns out that maybe nature needs order. The grape vines are manicured, primped, and trimmed to produce the best, highest quality grape with acceptable yields. There is a balance there but I think it's safe to say that the farmers in the Napa Valley have this pretty much figured out.

I love playing with this particular subject. The boat has been slowing deteriorating for as long as I can remember. I first shot this boat a few years ago and tend to stop every time I go out to Point Reyes.

Early morning out on Lake Tahoe. The sun had risen and was high in the sky. The fires in Yosemite were still burning and the jet stream was carrying the smoke up to the Tahoe Basin. I couldn't shoot anything that was in the distance as the smoke made the skies to hazy.
Trying to capture a image of the lake was difficult but this reflection caught my eye and I found it appealing.

Three Brothers and Bridalveil
One of my favorite vistas in Yosemite Valley is tunnel view. Especially on days like the day I captured this image. We had camped in the valley the previous night and it snowed most of the night.
Fortunately, the storm mostly passed in the night. We drove up to the Tunnel View and were greeted with a near empty parking lot and this beautifully peaceful scene.

I found a group of Calla Lillies growing outside the Napa Mill. Normally when I find these beautiful flowers they show some signs of heat damage with some blackening on the outside edge of the flower. These particular lilies were perfect. The flower grows from a thick stem and has a rough resemblance of the horn of a trumpet.
These flowers are native to South Africa.

I'm not exactly sure why they call the Reno Balloon Race a race at all. It seemed that nobody was in a real hurry to get off the ground. Once off the ground I didn't see anyway to race these things or a course to race on. It seemed as if they were just floating up and down and around, looking for different currents to float on.
I'm not criticizing this. It was and is a beautiful event.

The Emerald Forest. This image is mostly straight out of the camera and it's an image I'm very proud of. The only adjust made was to brighten it up a bit as the exposure was originally darker due to the low light that this was captured under.
One of the reasons I like this is that it shows that clearly this is a forest but the blurred effects give the image a mysterious feel. I hope you like it.

On a good day the fog burns off around noon and stays out to sea for 4 to 5 hours. On a really good day the sun will burn off earlier and stay out till sundown.

These birds have become accustomed to humans flying around cleaning up campsites. I've actually had one land on my finger.

The name comes from the resemblance of a bridal veil. This waterfall crest the ridge and drops down and fans out like a veil.
The fall is backlit as the sun was above and behind the fall giving the crest a nice little sparkle.

A few miles outside of Yosemite Valley but still in the park is a little turnoff on Hwy 120 that mostly goes unnoticed. It's a real shame because at that turn off is this little gem off a waterfall. Cascade Creek drops down from the higher peaks on the north side and then cross under the highway here at the bridge.

This is my favorite of the lesser known waterfalls of Yosemite National Park. The falls cascade down from the high country but can only be seen in bits and pieces depending on where you are viewing it from.
This image was taken from the bottom of the falls where the water dumps into the pool and runs into a small creek that ultimately ends by joining the Merced River.

This is an area that started out as a lumber town, the town was owned basically by the lumber company. Once most of the redwoods in the area were cut down the area morphed into a fishing village.

I took my family over for a nice day on the bay where we walked through town and had ice cream at a local shop.

Now days it's just a beautiful spot along highway 80.

The snow had coated all of the branches in a nice layer of white and the flat light muted almost all of the other color that was left under the snow. I really like how the river was still enough to cast a nice deep reflection of the trees lining the edge. The tree near center caught my attention with the way it curved outward.

Out On a Limb
I was camped in Yosemite in February when I captured this. So much snow coming down that anything in the distance was blocked by snow. When you can't shoot at a distance you need to change focus and find something nearby and close-up.
Playing around with this oak tree and I liked how all of the branches seemed to go every which way creating an abstract of tree limbs and snow.

Winter in Yosemite can be a real adventure. You can't really ever count on anything except that whatever conditions you have at any given moment most likely won't be what you have later. Storms move in and out of the valley on a regular basis.

In this picture you see the trestles of the Pudding Creek Bridge. The bridge was built in 1915 as a railroad bridge that helped move the north coast lumber. In 1949 the bridge was converted to a one lane logging truck bridge.
The bridge halted service to motor vehicles in the late 70's.

I went down to Balboa Park and found a photographers Paradise. The buildings are magnificent and the architecture is out of this world beautiful.
This building was built for the 1915 Panama-American Exposition and is truly an impressive structure.

Here you see the Merced River early in it's journey at the eastern end of Yosemite Valley. The river is relatively calm at this point.and during the summer it is the sight of swimmers braving the cool water.
This image was taken during the middle of February towards the end of a big snowstorm that dropped a couple of feet of snow on the ground.
