Something else that happened last weekend, that I didn't post about, was that we lost another of our cats. we had to put our 15 year-old to sleep after he battled with blood clots and an initial diagnosis of heart disease. I'm going to miss him so much... and I wouldn't trade the years I've had with him around for anything.

We are now down to a single cat.

The bottom of the can needs to be filled with some sand as well, and it has to be in good shape, no rust holes or anything. generally the seals are still good, and if they're not, replacements are pretty easy to acquire depending on where you look. but, even a smoothed bead of pliable gasket maker or silicone in the seal channel will work in a pinch on the cheap. I've seen this done.

I got that out of my house as quickly as humanly possible. I do NOT like spicy pillows. mostly because I don't have an ammo can to keep it in anymore until I can dispose of it myself.

Also suffered from a spicy pillow, which is the part that should arrive tomorrow, and then it can go back together.

it was cheaper to get a whole heatsink+fan assembly than just the fan itself which I both completely understand and still can't wrap my mind around. The price was cheaper than scrap value!!

well... I'm feeling much better. last week and a half I was dealing with a respiratory bug I caught from my sister, and then that inherently turned into also catching COVID for the first time in 5 years. woohoo.

Friend dropped off a curved Asus 1440p monitor for me to fix because all three inputs were loose and possibly had bad solder joints. I'll be working on that tomorrow alongside another client repair, but...

he also gave me a bag full of cables to keep. This relic was inside. Wow.

we're set up at F01! come on by. we have stuff for sale as well, and working 56k dialup broadband with modern WiFi for no reason at all whatsoever!

There's also other cool exhibits, like this adorable Mac SE at C08! gonna get better pics when I'm there in the morning. very aesthetic.

We also have positive X850XT installation, and just a few hours ago we were in another room blasting it out playing UT99 and installing 98SE on some tiny PC.

I'm wiped, time to sleep.

.....Aaand I think I accidentally dun-blowed-up the SATA card in the GX400.

Don't suppose anyone out there in the US has an unloved Adaptec 1205sa by chance they're not using?

sadly can't be any other card, because of the modified BIOS and driver necessary for SSD and large drive use (up to 2TB) to match the non-adaptec 3112 cards.

In order to mitigate a reinstall, the same model with the same BIOS needs to go in. Might have a solution of getting one in time but can't hurt to ask here too.
