One day, when I was a little girl, my mom took me along to a bank, a different one than the one my parents used and she did some things I didn't quite understand yet.
I now know the year was 1974 and she just obtained the right to open a bank account without my dads (or any other male's) permission. She wanted me to be there. She was 33, I was allowed to do that the day I became a legal adult.

During WWII my 18 year old uncle wrote an antifa slogan on a wall and was starved to death in Dora for it. My grandfather helped people hide, wrote for the underground press and sabotaged material. He was tortured for a week (on purpose) before he died in Dachau. The descendants of the Nazi's who did that are now telling me I cannot see the parallels with what is happening in the Middle East. As a student, I did an end of year paper on children and violence on television. The conclusion of most studies was that the attitude and guidance of the parents were key to how children deal with the images they see. I guess the same goes for what they find/see on the net today. 35 years ago, computers weren't exactly as common a household presence yet. I'm sure by now there have been some studies into that as well, it wouldn't surprise me if they showed similar results.
