Apparently, like all things, there is a market for buying &#39;stars&#39; that malicious actors can use to kickstart their algorithmic ranking and increase their chances of benign users to star and use their malware repos.<br/><br/>If only, GitHub just hosted repos and let users decide what is good or bad without an algorithm. Malware would still exist, sure, but at least it wouldn&#39;t be promoted so easily, like with the current system in place.
