Guix easily gets technical as it&#39;s a fast-moving target which breaks things quite often. I would think your user-group needs something with really LTS where they only get bugfixes and security patches. Lack of resources is the key issue. I haven&#39;t exactly been helping too much myself, so I cannot tell too loudly. Getting more users will probably help, but I feel it&#39;s a bit of a chicken and the egg problem. The bar to entry can be lowered, but maybe not to the level of other distributions.
