Initially, she was thought to be unintelligent until she was diagnosed and several measures were taken, such as attending a school with fewer students and taking medication.<br/><br/>During the conversation, this mother made an intriguing comment: She said that she had asked her daughter not to take the medicine. This prompted my question: &#34;May I ask why, since it was prescribed by a professional?&#34; <br/><br/>Her answer: &#34;I&#39;ve heard it can cause Alzheimer&#39;s.&#34; When I asked her where she heard that, she said it was from someone she follows on Instagram.<br/><br/>Another person in the conversation emphasized the importance of using reliable sources and peer-reviewed research. I&#39;m not sure if my endorsed comment will have an impact. In fact, the EU should have one too. <br/><br/>Their recent €600k+ grant to Mastodon is a great example of what public investment in open digital infrastructure can look like. It strengthens the Fediverse, a real alternative to X. As I’ve argued in the #LeaveX campaign: we already have a viable social media alternative to X (1) and what we lack is sustained funding and political commitment. (2)<br/><br/>Thus, if more EU countries invested in improving Mastodon, how quickly could it become Europe’s de facto public square?<br/><br/>While most European politicians still prefer X for their official communication, reducing technical barriers could attract a more diverse audience, including the people our representatives want to reach, like journalists and the general public.<br/><br/>By the way, it&#39;s interesting, though not surprising, that the Sovereign Tech Agency has almost four times as many followers on Mastodon as on Bluesky. Although I use hashtags for almost 20 years on social media, it makes sense I could be muted in the Fediverse. I also follow some topics via hashtags, and it can be annoying to have the same person popping up in my timeline.<br/><br/>It&#39;s a different dynamic than adding hashtags to my blog posts, where we used to add. I was used to adding it in order for helping the categorization of my articles, maybe improve the possibility to be better indexed by search engines and other people be able to find it. I remember even about the possibility of having an RSS feed for a specific tag.<br/><br/>I just created a thread related to my post earlier this morning, so it seems more polite to not add the same hashtags again on my following up posts.<br/><br/>In any case, if hashtags are not the proper way to classify a post, possibly it could be possible to add some meta tags automatically created to a post. I don&#39;t know what their algorithm is, but I like the interface and to get some reading suggestions based on my preferences. As an example, I had my blog and account deleted, because the rector ordered, and I was fired from the development team, due to a misunderstanding. I created a first April joke, that some people believed, and it even ended up in the news. 😂<br/><br/>Be the way, one of the goals of the project was to be federated and we aimed to connect to other educational and research institutes, using some protocol that allowed that.<br/><br/>Today I laugh, but there were some tough cases where some people were advocating violence, and our small team (4-5 developers) had to deal with it. I cannot image how it would be in case of a very active system in a university as big as University of São Paulo, that can have hundreds of thousands, if we allow the alumni to join? Or dozens of thousands, if not.
