If only panels (“start” menu, systray popups) are black a switch to snother virtual desktop will fix it. This should be resolved after disabling the “blur” effect in systemsettings.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;If the whole display is black the display settings will revert and fix the issue.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;For external monitors the “built-in” option in the display settings will soon work (when the display driver supports exporting the EDID to user space)

This is only temporarily necessary. Merging the driver / uapi takes longer than anticipated/wished but eventually it will be merged.&lt;br/&gt;The DRM linux maintainers are uneasy about the use of unstable DRM uapi in the wider eco system. That’s the reason why the driver in upstream mesa is intentionally broken. A local package in distributions which already ship the driver in the base system is a much smaller footprint.
