Only option was “Healthiest: walk 300m.” Interesting conversation with person who just rang about my feedback. At first, she told me repeatedly that there is no bus which stops at Gorman House, because there is no stop there. I told her repeatedly that there is indeed a bus and it stops at Gorman House. She insisted there was not, because it wasn’t showing up in the app as she looked at it. Only walk 300m was showing. Which is exactly my point. Finally she looked it up on the map and, surprise! There is a stop right out the front of Gorman House!! I pointed out, as one of my respondents had commented, that only option is walking, is ableist. This was a foreign concept to her. I explained that offering only “Walk” wrongly assumes that every passenger is fit, healthy, willing and able to walk. I don’t think she got it. She offered to print off the #31 bus timetable, post it to me. I just about lost it at this point. What I wanted her to do was pass on: this is a problem with the app, this is why, it needs to be fixed. I asked if she would be passing my feedback on, otherwise I’d write to the Minister (Minister Steel; much good that would do). She said she’ll talk to someone, get back to me.
