Obviously I'm not familiar with the state resolution protocol or the inner workings of matrix and its probably much too complicated and created by much smarter people than I. It is a little annoying that you have to follow such tight set of rules to maintain a stable room when socially things can be complicated, and maybe i guess Matrix isnt something my grandma would be using but I do think that something that fundamentally works much better (less bugs, easier to understand) would be better no? Maybe i'll have to have a look at Matrix to learn a bit more.

I wonder why this is. Obviously you guys running your own instance would know best but enabling something like invite only on large channels guess makes it hard to synchronize the state of who is meant to read messages or not? is it encrypted at that point? hmm

i dont intend to start a protocol battle buy as a long time IRC user I feel for public channels and project discussions (even private rooms) IRC does most things, yes there is no image uploads, probably the most annoying thing but at least its stable and within our control?
