I've been using computers, mostly #Apple, since the late 70’s. The first computer I wrote on was a Kaypro “Luggable” which ran CP/M. I had WordStar 3.3 which is a powerful, true word processor. You might be surprised to learn that some authors, like Anne Rice and George RR Martin, still use WordStar to this day. If you’d like to try it out, you’ll want to check this out. If you write, you might find it to be truly liberating #tech #writing #wordstar #dos #retrocomputing https://tech.slashdot.org/story/24/08/06/2136259/wordstar-7-the-last-ever-dos-version-is-re-released-for-free

A handful o’ peeps on ycombinator talking about how it could be Chinese spyware doesn’t really give me that concerned vibe. There are a lot of talented opsec researchers out there who track this kinda stuff and ventoy is quite popular amongst nerds. Don’t you think someone legit Whitehat would have pulled the fire alarm sooner? I mean, it’s been around for what, at least four years now?

It’s basically a boot tool that lives on a thumb drive and lets you pick to load an ISO copied to said drive from a nice list. I have no idea how someone might use it to exploit anything. Then again, I’m no coder.
