sorry random Q - any idea why they'd use different footprints for the d-pad vs letter button pads? I can see why they might have the orientation of the d-pad ones the way they are (slit in the same direction user is "dragging") but i'm curious why they wouldn't use the "S"-lookin footprint everywhere.

But when I put out a YouTube video... Yikes. I check those numbers very very frequently. Lots of self Googling. It is embarrassing. And I'm not trying to be obnoxious, I'm not doing crazy numbers - it's not like I actually need to keep up with it in any way. It's just very... slot-machiney.

Anyways! Going in next time with a plan and maybe some self-administered parental controls

I've made a bunch of improvements in the past few months, now that child is walking/talking.
- push notifications are off, except from family/work (during reasonable hrs)
- deleted Twitter and TikTok off of mobile completely (I know, should have happened long ago)
- I've really enjoyed straight-up leaving my phone behind when I know I'm going to be out with the family anyways.
- no more podcasts in a single earbud on walks with the kid. This was great while she was tiny, but had to go.

I need to to develop a healthier relationship with the internet, especially in the weeks following a project reveal 😅

I think in the early months of fatherhood I let my social media habits get out of hand - frankly, the phone was a cheap way to escape for a little while and stay stimulated during an extremely tiring and isolating time.

This is not a complaint - it's amazing what we can do with the Pi's!! I'm just always caught off guard by the unevenness of the developer experience.

I went from:

"oh wow I can run all this code originally designed to run in the cloud LOCALLY without changing a line!"

to:

"oh wow I just spent two entire evenings trying to get the right HDMI resolution to show up on my display"

Relatively small price to pay but just feels bad every time.
