I'm talking about this specific scenario: hyperinflation in paper, no internet access and I need to pay my bills at home. In this scenario I can't access my Bitcoin at home, it doesn't matter if it's hard to travel with substantial silver or gold holdings because I'm not traveling. And if I am traveling it's to somewhere that I can access the internet (and thus Bitcoin) I don't need to worry about the difficulties of traveling with metal as I'll have access to funds when I arrive.

I don't work for anyone that I don't choose. I don't belong to anyone other than my chosen family. I am a peaceful individual, and I do not support liars and thieves that take from us in order to pay those that kill us.

The more authoritarian and murderous those in power become, the more my resolve grows to resist. Not openly, not suicidally directly, but in every indirect and private way I can. Avoiding theft through inflation by choosing to save in Bitcoin is the first and biggest step, the second is becoming invisible by reducing expenses and living life without grandeur. Gold in any form devalues against Bitcoin faster than paper devalues against Gold, they're not even in the same game.

But there's something unique to seeing a growing amount of physical Gold and Silver monetary units in your possession, whether coins or Goldbacks, that just scratches an itch that digital wealth can't reach.

Physical value makes wealth real, wouldn't it make sense that those who command the most digital value end up accumulating the most physical value as well? In the last 10 years the United States mint has produced copper coins with a total cumulative face value of roughly $9 - $10 Billion.

During the same period of time the M2 money supply has increased by $10 Trillion. Meaning in the last decade only $1 out of every $1000 has been produced in actual copper coinage, 0.1% of all new dollars were made of physical metal.

Copper may not be silver or gold but it is still a metal that was used as coinage throughout history, it is harder to create than paper or digital fiat, and I enjoy spending it far more than I enjoy spending any other form of the dollar other than old silver when a small business or individual decides to accept it.

In 1933 we lost the circulating Gold Dollar, in 1935 the production of the whole circulating Silver Dollar, in 1965 the circulating 90% Silver Fractional Dollar, 1971 the circulating 40% Silver Fractional Dollar, and in the future we will lose the circulating Copper Dollar / Fractional Copper Dollar just like we just lost the Penny.

If I'm forced to spend fiat, I will spend copper as much as I can, paper after that, and card only when dealing with large purchases where cash and coin have been made impractical. But I will do my best to go to businesses that accept sound money in any form, to spend money is to create it and introduce it into the economy so the better the money you can use to do that the better the economy will become.

Both. The mental shift occurs gradually in everyone, but it will happen to everyone given enough time. I think the Satoshi will be the unit of account for a time, before it too becomes too valuable to be used in that way practically. I think one day Bitcoin will evolve increased divisibility, perhaps the halving will be modified to be endlessly occurring and alongside each new halving a decimal will be added to increase division.

Every halving causes the cost of Bitcoin to double in terms of time, given this it's only a matter of time until the increased value from each halving adds up and makes increased division necessary. The Bitcoin network of today may one day look antiquated to Bitcoiners of the future, in the same way the Turing Bombe computer looks antiquated to us today.

It will change in ways we can't predict, it will evolve organically into new forms and perhaps it will experience hard forks that spawn children that are not shitcoins but instead symbolize different generations of Bitcoin that if successful will be able to coexist. I don't know what will happen for certain, but I know Bitcoin is still a baby that has yet to mature. When fully mature everything will be different, the world will look alien, and Bitcoin will become humanities economic foundation for centuries if not millennia.

What is a "god of the state" exactly. Are not the gods worthy of being placed on circulating coinage? They were in ancient Rome, the coins of the Republic featured the faces of the Pantheon of Rome. When the Republic fell to Julius Caesar, he was the first to have his face on his coin while he was still alive. That evokes power.

But the emperor's of Rome did not want it to seem like the city was conquered, but liberated. They wanted the people to believe "Rome" survived a troublesome time, just under new leadership.

They kept making coins, but with their faces on them instead of the Pantheon. Functionally declaring themselves gods. This is where we get the term "God-Emperor", because the emperor's declared themselves living gods.

The empire over time developed into a religious theocracy under the Catholic religion, having originally started out as a Republic it transitioned into a God-Emperor theocracy it became a religious dictatorship where the emperor was the head of the Church. Instead of a god, he was closest to God. This still evokes power.

Eventually though, the collapse of the government was also the collapse of the coinage as everytime the government couldn't pay it's bills it dipped into the savings of it's people by reducing the silver content/value of the coins as they were issued.

The coinage of the United States started out very much the same, honoring only the Pantheon of America. Namely Lady Liberty, who ruled along side Lady Justice in the courts of law. The only things that mattered to Americans, being "Liberty and Justice for all". Opposite Lady Liberty on our coins was the majestic eagle in the seal of our country and our original non-theocratic motto "E Pluribus Unum" (Out of many, One) proudly displayed on the coin. To show we were united in Liberty, even though we were all independent states.

But over time the dominant form of the dollar changed, and instead of Lady Liberty being on the front as was always the case on our Constitutional Silver and Gold Dollars, our paper dollars instead featured the gods of the state. Namely the God-Emperor presidents, and the paper dollars became so popular they eventually became dominant and the US Mint switched to dead presidents on it's coinage as well. After replacing the Liberty herself with dead men, it replaced the guardian of Liberty - Gold/Silver - with copper and paper.

Our coinage is how we do business, a dead coinage is a dead government. As the dollar is slowly replaced by digital versions of it, such as "Bitcoin-backed dollars" (apps paying dollar denominated bills with pure Satoshis over the lightning network), the government slowly becomes the slowest issuer of new exchangeable value to the market and they start to lose influence and power as they cannot control the Bitcoin network.

We are already on the path to freeing the world from the fiat yoke, it's a mathematical certainty that (with the halving and a stable or rising hashrate) Bitcoin grows in value exponentially over the next hundred years. Within a decade it will likely eclipse or have already eclipsed all the combined value of every other currency on earth. It wins because it makes the other issuers of value antiques, it makes them irrelevant and ignored, and everyone is perceived to suddenly be exposed to higher quality forms of money (Bitcoin and free market precious metal moneys) and their honest depiction of costs changing over time.

Observe the world with an attitude of wonder and pity, as the transition slowly happens over the next few years there will likely be bumpy patches where it will be very rough, but whatever happens we're already off the fiat death spiral train and growing more stable all the time.

To show we were united in Liberty, even though we were all independent states.

But over time the dominant form of the dollar changed, and instead of Lady Liberty being on the front as was always the case on our Constitutional Silver and Gold Dollars, our paper dollars instead featured the gods of the state. Namely the God-Emperor presidents, and the paper dollars became so popular they eventually became dominant and the US Mint switched to dead presidents on it's coinage as well. After replacing the Liberty herself with dead men, it replaced the guardian of Liberty - Gold/Silver - with copper and paper.

Our coinage is how we do business, a dead coinage is a dead government. As the dollar is slowly replaced by digital versions of it, such as "Bitcoin-backed dollars" (apps paying dollar denominated bills with pure Satoshis over the lightning network), the government slowly becomes the slowest issuer of new exchangeable value to the market and they start to lose influence and power as they cannot control the Bitcoin network.

We are already on the path to freeing the world from the fiat yoke, it's a mathematical certainty that (with the halving and a stable or rising hashrate) Bitcoin grows in value exponentially over the next hundred years. Within a decade it will likely eclipse or have already eclipsed all the combined value of every other currency on earth. It wins because it makes the other issuers of value antiques, it makes them irrelevant and ignored, and everyone is perceived to suddenly be exposed to higher quality forms of money (Bitcoin and free market precious metal moneys) and their honest depiction of costs changing over time.

Observe the world with an attitude of wonder and pity, as the transition slowly happens over the next few years there will likely be bumpy patches where it will be very rough, but whatever happens we're already off the fiat death spiral train and growing more stable all the time.

My thoughts on the recent price actions between precious metals and Bitcoin:

1: Global stage.

• Recently the US has had an unstable government, since the government supports the dollar the result is trust in the dollar is down on the global stage and central banks are already seen to be liquidating their US treasuries more than normal.

• With governments and central banks around the world reducing dollar holdings, what do they trust most as the alternative? Precious metals. China in particular appears to be stockpiling gold and went from 3000 kg to 40000 kg in only 18 months. If other nations, groups, and wealthy individuals are doing the same that would explain gold growing nearly 3x in the last 2 years. If this continues it may rise further.

• Like it or not Bitcoin is still very much too small for nation states to truly jump into in the same way, it would need to 10x - 20x before that point is reached where it could support that much liquidity. Trust isn't yet there, but with every higher bottom that trust is building.

2: Pleb stage.

• Average people are really hurting from the last 5 years of inflation, plus they are scared of Bitcoin's historic crashes, so there's been less participation this cycle from this group than previously.

• The unpopularity of the current president after he declared himself the "Bitcoin president" and then proceeding to become in reality the Shitcoin president among other things, also the mention of Bitcoin in the Epstein files, Bitcoin is being hammered in the views of people who don't understand what makes Bitcoin unique and not a part of all the scammer's and elite's bullshit. It's not part of the problem, it's the solution, but people don't know that.

3: Bitcoin is money.

• AI is causing lots of job losses.

• Government instability and shutdowns are causing government workers to either lose their jobs entirely or go long periods without pay.

• Government tariffs are causing significant strain on the overall economy. Leading to struggling economic activity across the board. Less economic activity = less savings buildup.

• Bitcoin is the easiest asset you can both self custody and liquidate quickly and at a low cost of ~1%~, compare that to precious metals which when self custodied are much harder to liquidate and often have a 5 - 10% fee for doing so.

• All things considered anyone holding Bitcoin as their savings that ends up affected by these things, easily accesses their savings and sells some of their holdings as needed. Bitcoin's advantage as money, leads to it appearing to lose as a long term store of value as its price falls in the short term.

Conclusion: As the world struggles Bitcoin gets used as emergency access money with savings easily liquidated, and Gold and Silver get jumped into at the nation state level to be used as a store of value. The result is they travel in opposite directions in the short term.

If Bitcoin were difficult to liquidate then it wouldn't have it's fast short term crashes, but it also wouldn't have it's fast increases when times favor such movements. Nobody knows what the future holds, and as the economy suffers Bitcoin will spread from the wallets of those who need it now to those who can afford to stack now. Remember the heartbeat of Bitcoin is it's hashrate finding blocks, while the price has cut in half the difficulty only reduced roughly 25% from a high of 155.9 T in October/November to 125.9 T a week ago, and this last adjustment saw a massive jump back up to 144.4 T.

IMO we're massively oversold, and we're forming a solid bottom around the 2021 ATH level. But things remain uncertain on the global stage as well as in the halls of government, and AI fears continue as well. Those who can afford to stack in these times will be very happy in the future when things turn around. But nobody knows if that's right around the corner or months or even years away. Do your best to disattach from short term market movements and live in the moment, enjoy the rollercoaster that is Bitcoin and life itself. 🤟

1: Improving the "open in app" experience when I click links to fountain pages for podcasts as it doesn't really work well.
2: Reducing the minimum sats per minute, this will only get more important as the price rises long term.
3: Increase the options in speed control, I don't like 25% faster as I usually do a modest 10%.
4: Add options that customize Bluetooth button controls when listening to podcasts.

I may seem really smart, but I'm just a math loving mildly autistic person living with childhood CPTSD. Growing up my family was always hyper afraid of government, you could argue they were justified in that fear but you could also argue that they focused on it too much and let it rule their lives.

Not being put in school was good in some ways, it helped me develop my open minded nature which led me to learn about Bitcoin much earlier than the majority of people. But what my parents labeled "homeschooling" was actually child neglect. They were violent with each other, physically and verbally abusive, paranoid of the end of the world and government conspiracies. They were hoarders, who allowed a massive infestation of roaches to continue living in our home for my entire childhood until I took matters into my own hands as a young adult. They even almost let me die from dental infections that would swell up my entire jaw, because they were too lazy to take me to the dentist and they were afraid of the drugs the dentist used (like the super deadly... ibuprofen) would kill me. 🙄 I still like the idea of homeschooling when done right, but I also like the idea of a trusted environment where division of labor gives children a better education than I could alone (provided the government is not involved). I'll probably find a good private school or tutors which will assist me in my educating my own children. But only time will tell.

Despite the early exposure into Bitcoin, I was not in command of much money and I didn't really know what I was doing. So even if I wish I had made different choices and wish I had more Bitcoin, the choices I did make allow me a more comfortable existence than many and that is it's own wealth. These days I study Bitcoin still, I also study the history of the US dollar and the Roman system of money and am in the early stages of writing a few books, but my focus is shifting to working on healing myself from my trauma and supporting my partner in her journey to heal hers as well.

The truth is we're all waiting for/working towards a world of abundance when if you choose to see it the world is already in abundance. When viewed from a lens of the original US gold standard anything that costs less than a 1/2 Goldback (~$5~) is under $0.02. on the $20.67/oz of gold US monetary system. I picked up a package of sliced ready to eat cheese at Aldi's for $1.48 the other day, that's less than a gold standard penny.

I am not posting as much lately, my analysis of a long term bottom in Bitcoin was evidently incorrect given the last 4 months of significant downward price action. So I'm not focusing on Bitcoin right now, I don't know what it's going to do other than eventually go up again. Instead I'm working on letting go of fear, accepting that there's little chance those who wish to control me affect my personal life directly, little chance a pleb like me is on anybody's radar. Even if they did try to affect me, I'm very insulated from indirect methods of attack these days. I could honestly live without a bank account, just order precious metals online and sell them for cash if I need it. I choose not to participate in the broken system anymore, the only fix for the world at large is Bitcoin allowing us to focus on the world immediately around us and help our family, friends, and communities in their own journeys of growth.

Everything else comes second. If it doesn't preserve value in the short term then it cannot be a medium of exchange. At this point I'm sick of the banks. I've been offering to pay Bitcoin, Goldbacks, Silver Rounds, Silver Coins, US Mint Copper coins, and (reluctantly) cash. I'm rarely using my old credit cards anymore except at big box stores and card only self checkouts.

The banks can go fuck themselves, commerce is between the buyer and the seller and nobody else. Fiat money is the worst but the most accepted. It's actually enjoyable to pay with coins, I wish it was easier to pay in anything but copper and paper though.

I find that your average person still has no clue about anything money related and most are confused even by the US Mint dollar and half dollar coins which they sometimes refuse! It's awkward to offer to pay in Bitcoin or Goldbacks or Silver because they don't understand any of them. So now I have a 4 pocket wallet, I unfold it in front of them to reveal US Mint Copper dollars in the first pocket, old US Mint Silver coins in the second pocket, new silver coins and rounds in the third pocket, and some Goldbacks in various denominations and state series in the 4th pocket, Cash I keep in a different wallet in my bag.

In the old silver pocket I have a peace dollar and a silver certificate as educational tools to show how our money has gotten worse. I'm having some success in offering silver dimes and quarters, and 1/2 and whole Goldbacks, as tips. People generally like the copper US Mint coins and sometimes take pictures or enthusiastically tell me they're going to take those coins home with them. This is a frustrating process, but it's very revealing as to the current state of the economy on the ground floor.

Just have to have patience and gently educate people as I offer to pay my bill in various instruments. IMO once I establish myself as a trustworthy source of low value money, cash and coins, then with time they may open up to accepting the better forms of money.

Bitcoin is better understood by those who understand money, and it's easier to start teaching them with physical sound money and maybe their interest will be sparked enough to lead them away from fiat and towards the best sound money ever discovered. I like Goldbacks and Silver coins for this purpose, they're beautiful and they're free market money backed by precious metals. All types of sound money are beneficial for humanity, and with Bitcoin anchoring the entire system globally Gold and Silver will find a place as physical money again.

There are 2 types of people. Those who believe in authority, and those that don't. If you come across someone who believes they have authority over you, and they're supported by a system of other people that says they have authority over you, treat them like you would a gorilla.

You can't reason with a gorilla, talk to a gorilla, or fight a gorilla and win. A gorilla is a dangerous animal, they have no actual authority over you but they believe they do and they have the ability to kill you if you disagree.

Like it or not might makes right, "he who has the Gold makes the rules", and those who command the most economic energy are in charge until they aren't. Unfortunately for us, it is authoritarians who in today's world have near total control of the most important good required for a truly free market: money.

Governments every year spend more value, acquired through theft and devaluation, than the value of the entire Bitcoin network combined. But as they do that balance is shifting little by little every day, the more they devalue their networks the weaker they become. It won't be much longer until Bitcoin's exponential growth and the Dollar's exponential devaluation reach a major tipping point and everything changes exponentially fast. Until then, bow to the gorillas in public while fighting them in private.

Understand that there is little point to open conflict, we have already won! We won't win by conflict with them, we win by outcompeting them. Bitcoin is spreading across the world like an out of control wildfire and it cannot be stopped. The world needs better money and while Gold and Silver are great physical trade units, they those and fell on that backs of the authorities that made them too many times in history to be trusted again. Bitcoin fixes everything wrong with money, it's literally just sovereign tokens of values of time (average block time divided by block reward) and energy (average hashrate divided by block reward) and both values are constantly growing.

Imagine Bitcoin powered hospitals, Bitcoin powered food kitchens, Bitcoin powered fire departments, Bitcoin powered schools, Bitcoin powered factories, Bitcoin powered everything. With Bitcoin, just acquire a critical mass of Satoshis and spend them slower than they grow and you'll never run out of money. No obedience to arbitrary rules given by authoritarians needed.

The world doesn't get better out of nowhere, the world gets better when Bitcoin grows big enough that Bitcoiners spend more money and build more services that provide more value to society than the fiat money printers do.

The difficulty adjustment does fall, it just falls much slower when the price drops than it rises when the price increases. The reason why has to do with the economics of mining operations.

Mining has several costs that need to be considered, the first is the initial cost of the time and money to set everything up. This would be contracts for energy and the purchase, relocation, and setup of the equipment to begin mining that energy into Bitcoin.

The next cost would be the upkeep, staffing, rent, maintenance, and energy costs.

When the price is rising it's easier to invest the primary starting cost to get the operation running and/or expanded, once setup the continuing costs of keeping the whole thing going is much lower, so they can keep mining even at a temporary overall loss considering their original investment, as long as they're still marginally profitable given the operation is already in place.

When the price is falling, the only cost that matters is the marginal continued maintenance and energy costs. The initial investment has been made, it makes little sense to completely shut down an operation during a temporary dip if they're able to keep running at marginal profit. Marginal profit is better than zero profit.

These factors mean mining operations reacts to upside price volatility much more than it reacts to the downside and, since the market reverses quickly, it causes resistance to the downside and helps increase confidence in the network which increases the value and raises the price again.

Take a look at the last 1 - 3 years (attached) and compare the price action to the difficulty adjustments. We're still in a bull market, it's just difficult (heh) to see when focused on the price.

For those who don't understand why:
The Bitcoin of 4+ years from now will always be worth more mining cost in time than the Bitcoin of today. This fact will always be true due to the halving.

The fact that it's programmed to be worth more time later, gives incentive to get more NOW while it's easier. This drives up competition, which increases hashrate faster than it would if the halving wasn't a thing.

Hashrate is simply an increase in the effort of mining equipment, which don't get more efficient faster than the difficulty adjustment makes it harder. The increased hashrate means increased energy input. Energy has value and, coupled with the increased time required, this increase in the value input leads to an increase in the value of the output.

Regardless of how many Satoshis that value is divided into. The less Satoshis in the output, the higher the value per Satoshi.

Price is falling much more than expected, my take is the government shutdown made many stackers sell to cover bills while awaiting paychecks, combine that with everyone and their mother believing we're about to enter the next Bear market.

So I've been wanting to use physical Cash instead of cards for any bills that don't accept BTC yet, but it is quite a headache for all involved given the 13 different denominations in circulation.

To solve this I believe I have figured out the most efficient Cash system, by reducing the denominations you use to only 6, allowing quick and easy exact change with no need to fumble with receiving anything back.

Simply carry with you:

* Paper denominations: $50, $20, $5.

* Coin denominations: $1, $0.25, $0.05.

The paper adds up to $420, a reasonable amount of buying power, in only 18 notes. And you can always withdraw extra $20s at an ATM whenever you need a top up. Also having only 3 note sizes means you don't have to search through your wallet for the right note: the back is $50s, the center is $20s, and the front is $5s, easy peasy.

While the 3 coins are visibly different in size or color from each other which makes selection from a single coin bag easy and fast.

Further, the beauty in the system is how simple it is:

$50: divides into 2 $20s and 2 $5s,

$20: divides into 4 $5s.

$5: divides into 5 $1s.

$1: divides into 4 $0.25.

$0.25: divides into 5 $0.05s.

Every step up of currency between $0.05 to $20 is either 4x or 5x. Very simple. While the $50 is able to be broken into the smaller units for more value density in a small amount of bills. Also, you very well might spend a $50 on a single bill and few places don't accept them unlike the $100. Since $20s are the bill likely used the most, it works well since that's the most common bill able to be withdrawn from ATMs when top ups are needed. 🤟

Wow. Just tested with my Wallet of Satoshi (nprofile…2km9) readable receiving address and it was able to extract my full transaction history.

Testing the invoices and/or readable receiving addresses from AQUA Wallet (nprofile…jv3w) and strike (nprofile…0j5p) both did not reveal that data.

Until this changes I will stop using Wallet of Satoshi. It's a shame, I really like the app.

Hey Nostridges, I updated my personal charts with the last few weeks of highs and lows which I'm attaching below. This time I'm also including more zoomed in charts with 1.05x and 0.95x the trend line showing how both the daily lows and highs relate to them over the last year. I think the charts speak for themselves, but if you have any questions I'm happy to answer to the best of my ability.

Unlike most chart makers I'm not a trader, and this is not an attempt to find a hard bottom or hard top. My intent is just to help visualize the long term growth pattern and what might occur if that growth continues. If you find this interesting that's cool, if you don't that's okay too. Don't use this as a basis for decisions to trade, just don't trade, stack and HODL.

If you're transitioning to actually living on Bitcoin and spending it to cover expenses, then if trends continue my calculations show you can safely withdraw 1 - 2% a month for living expenses and never run out of savings. The amount of Satoshi's you sell will go down each month as the value rises, eventually you'll be selling less than one Satoshi per month; this will be possible as IMO it is an inevitability that consensus will be found to divide Bitcoin beyond the Satoshi, within a decade. It is also likely to be done by adding lines of code that automatically increase division capacity in regular intervals, like perhaps at every halving. I'm not sure how it will play out exactly, but with a growth rate of 10x roughly every 3 years we're losing 1 decimal of value divisibility in the same time frame as long as we don't increase divisibility.

Bitcoin is a 1000+ year network, it will change in ways you don't expect. But you can live on it today, sustainably and forever.

Yep. We've been attempting to recover from a depression ever since the Dot Com bubble burst, 2008 was just a continuation of the Dot Com crash. We recovered a bit up to the end of 2019 but already lost half of that value since COVID.
