There are lots of other orgs in the ecosystem with varying funding structures. Over time the protocol stewardship will move to the IETF and community governance will likely form around some sort of membership group. Financial sustainability is up to any individual org to figure out. The separation of concerns between services makes many of those services relatively cheap to run, esp as community infrastructure.

Competing apps can actually leverage the reach of Bsky to advance their own apps, rather than be captured by it. See Flashes.blue, which uses the Bsky social graph and media posts, but is on its way to migrating to their own lexicon. They get the advantage of both.

When a video app comes out using the Note activity rather than Video, you know something isn't working.

As for podcasts, I would love to see someone try to take down Apple Podcasts as the official index and reviews of podcasts. AT could def do it.

Decentralization of what? AP prioritizes decentralization of servers. I believe AT decentralizes power. Having a fiefdom is nicer than siloed platforms. Having total freedom on each layer of service (client, hosting, moderation, infra) for a much broader category of online computing is much more empowering to both individuals and organizations.
