We recently visited one of the @GridlessCompute #Bitcoin mining sites in Kenya, which stands as one of the largest mining operations in Africa! It was an incredible experience seeing firsthand how Bitcoin mining can be a force for good.

During the visit, we explored how these mining machines are powered using Sisal Waste (Biomass). The process is a fascinating cycle of sustainability: Sisal Waste → Fire → Steam → Electricity. This proves that 🌍♻️

We were happy to have @WNyachikanda from @BitJracademy lead the session. She did an amazing job breaking down Satoshi Nakamoto’s vision, the importance of the #Bitcoin Whitepaper, and exactly why this technology was created for the world.

We recently hosted our first meetup of 2026—and our 8th since launching our monthly program! A huge thank you to

We had an incredible session in Thika Town.

led a deep dive into the evolution of money, an intro to #Bitcoin, and why #Bitcoin matters today.

Thanks to the Lightning Network, every attendee set up a wallet and practiced sending and receiving sats!

We kicked things off with a foundational teaching on Bitcoin by
FelixMukungu (nprofile…prmc) .From the history of money to the unique value proposition of #Bitcoin, understanding the "Why" is at the core of our mission to create genuine Bitcoin awareness. 📚💡

Hands-on learning is key! We helped attendees set up the
Blockstream (nprofile…g8xl) App to demonstrate the difference between self-custodial and custodial wallets, and placed a heavy emphasis on best practices for safeguarding seed phrases

To bring the theory to life, we performed a live on-chain transaction on Blockstream (nprofile…g8xl) App. We tracked the progress on the mempool (nprofile…wnpf)
so everyone could see exactly how Bitcoin transactions are recorded on a public, immutable, and transparent ledger. ⛓️👀

A major highlight was our deep dive into cold storage. We demonstrated how to set up a hardware wallet, explaining why taking your private keys offline is the ultimate step in securing your wealth.

We then had people set up Lightning wallets like Blink Wallet (nprofile…vy4y) and
Wallet of Satoshi (nprofile…9ral) and had everyone receive and send sats to each other. It's a great practice, as everyone gets to use Bitcoin and see how easy, cheap, and fast it is to move value! ⚡️🌍

We wrapped up by showcasing tools available in Kenya that make #bitcoin, the everyday money. Attendees joined our community on
Fedi (nprofile…3uh5) ,set up Minmo (nprofile…8rw2) ,and some bought Bitcoin for the first time using bitika (nprofile…mpws) and learnt to spend it via Tando.me (nprofile…0vpk) .

It was a powerful start to the year! We can’t wait for our next meetup this February.

We recently completed two excellent sessions with our Cohort 9 students focused on the technical side of #Bitcoin, led by

We discussed the evolution of money—why older forms were left behind for newer ones that better met the needs of the market. It was important that FelixMukungu (nprofile…prmc) emphasized that money does not originate from governments, but rather arises out of the market process.

We focused on the 'Double Coincidence of Wants' problem during the barter system, which led to the discovery of commodity money.

Our core mission is to create Bitcoin awareness through education, content creation, and community building. We've seen great success with our main initiative, #BitcoinEducation, and we are also committed to building a strong #BitcoinCommunity through our second project, Bitcoin Githurai.

Recently, following our Cohort 8 graduation (with the physical ceremony scheduled for #Bitcoin Unconference #004), we organized a small trip to
Bitcoin Githurai. Some of the graduates joined The Core team, and the visit was a fantastic success. It was inspiring to see the energy of young people building with #Bitcoin. Notably, our entire core team consists of graduates of The Core, and their skills are already proving essential in the Bitcoin space.

We’ve hit our initial target of 10 merchants! 🥳 This milestone is key as we fully roll out phases 2 and 3 of our project. Over the weekend, we added two great merchants: Neil’s Nails Shop and Elijah, a local Boda-boda rider!

It was cool to use #bitcoin for project expenses! We paid our 3rd-ever onboarded merchant for "cyber services" (stickers) and then used those to help the two newest merchants set up their businesses to accept #Bitcoin. That's a circular economy in action!

One thing is clear across all our meetups in Kenya 🇰🇪: Education is the leading indicator to mass #Bitcoin adoption. Thank you to
npub13ljnkd633c7maxatymv3y2fqq8vt3qk7j3tt0vytv90eztwgha9qmfcfhw and @ TrezorAcademy for supporting our monthly meetups and mission. The young people in Thika were excited to learn Bitcoin the right way, and we're happy to keep raising awareness to drive adoption.

Here’s a look at how it went down! ⬇️

FelixMukungu (nprofile…prmc) led a fantastic introductory session, covering the History of Money, the basics of Bitcoin, how to use it, and why it matters. His engaging, practical activities kept the energy high throughout the entire session! ⚡️

Attendees were set up on Blockstream (nprofile…g8xl) App , for an on-chain transaction demonstration. They learned the critical importance of safely backing up seed phrases. We watched one transaction move through the mempool (nprofile…wnpf) until it was confirmed, showing just how transparent the #Bitcoin ledger is.

Next, we used Blink Wallet (nprofile…lfqf) for a Lightning transaction demo. With the help of The Core Team, 1,000 sats were passed from the first attendee to the last. This was a clear, practical way to show the difference between on-chain and Lightning transactions—fast and cheap!

Chris took time to help everyone know how to set up
@Trezor Safe 3 hardware wallets. He covered wallet recovery and explained the vital importance of cold storage for securing your #Bitcoin for the long term.

FelixMukungu (nprofile…prmc) demonstrated that #Bitcoin mining is a game of random guesses using D++ (nprofile…ng5m) 's resource https://dplus.plus/mine . It was a lot of fun! Three lucky winners walked away with 706 sats each

Finally, we showed attendees how easy it is to use Bitcoin in Kenya. We introduced Tando.me (nprofile…jvv8) and bitika (nprofile…mpws) to demonstrate buying #Bitcoin with M-PESA and then spending it with Tando using a Lightning wallet wherever M-PESA is used 🇰🇪🙌

We sent 500 sats to BitcoinAfricaStory (nprofile…3q4s) using geyser (nprofile…n2y8) !This was a great demonstration of how #Bitcoin is a powerful tool for empowering and funding emerging projects globally. 🌍

The session yesterday on the introduction to the technical side of #Bitcoin was great. We appreciate our guest educator,
npub1337xxyne0pw52zgd984xqqs2q7qhqpt7phhn7xp6t9yt406vrvescdpkdt ,for accepting our invitation to lead the session for Chapter 9 of the #Bitcoin Diploma.

We learned about public key cryptography and how digital signatures are key to proving ownership on the #Bitcoin network, as well as the role of hashing.

It was also wonderful to have students participate in a miner's game using D++'s resources : https://dplus.plus/mine to demonstrate how mining is done.

Over the weekend, we hosted our 4th monthly Bitcoin Meetup right in the heart of Nairobi, and what an incredible session it was! The turnout was amazing with 30+ attendees eager to deepen their understanding of #Bitcoin — not just as new money, but as a tool for financial freedom, empowerment, and building resilient communities.

Recap: First Session of the Bitcoin Sovereignty Program

Yesterday, we had an amazing first session of BITCOIN SOVEREIGNTY extracurricular program!

The session focused on #Bitcoin transactions and partially covered UTXO management. Attendees downloaded @Bloclstream Green Wallet
,enabled testnet, and conducted multiple transactions. D++ (nprofile…ng5m)
demonstrated how to manually select UTXOs for spending using Blockstream Green Wallet and Sparrow Wallet.

It was fascinating to explore how transactions can be signed from Sparrow Wallet and broadcasted across different platforms like
@mempool .or Bitcoin Core. Students shared their testnet receiving addresses, and D++ sent 1,000,000 sTEST to each participant.

We’re excited for the next session, which will be a continuation of this topic!

2. Chapter Quizzes
We have a total of 23 sessions, inclusive of the guest speaker sessions. After each session, we post 5 quizzes for our students. Find the PDFs of the quizzes, where each PDF contains 10 quizzes split into sessions. Where each PDF contains 15 quizzes split into 3 sessions.

3. Assignments and Final Tests
We conduct 2 assignments and one final test in each cohort. Find these in the “Assignments” folder under The Core - Bitcoin Education Resources Directory.
