The bootloader that’s built into the phone can only boot Android boot.img. This is a bigger uphill climb than I realized since it’s not just driver development, but also figuring out what features are missing in the upstream SoC itself and implementing/enabling that. My theory is that while the kernel is decompressing, it overwrites itself causing memory corruption.
