one of the things that is hard to accept, with AI, be it for coding or translating or other natural language composition, is that humans are held to very high standards regarding such activities, whereas the AI is allowed to produce mediocrities and people tolerate it. there's often a tacit admission that we don't really care what the words say, what the code does.

#ai #translation #vibeslop

The United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Spain, and Russia in 2008. Iran in 2007. Yemen in 2005.

"This is an incomplete list of countries where, over the past two decades, fuel price hikes and the removal of state subsidies have been among the triggers of subsequent protests and uprisings. Raising fuel prices is one of the recurring markers of neoliberal structural adjustment, and almost everywhere governments have taken this step, they have encountered popular resistance.

"One country appears three times on that list: Iran. [...] On the night increases to the price of fuel were announced, people set fire to 12 gas stations in Tehran and chanted slogans against the president. Hence, the question naturally arises: given that historical experience, and in the midst of a suspended wartime situation with Israel, by virtue of what criteria and on what basis does the Iranian state decide to raise gasoline prices once more?"

(its heartening too to see lots of folks recognizing your integrity.)

i have a question: just now i was rate limited using my emacs forgejo client, fj.el. if i post a comment to an issue/PR, it does succeed, but i also receive your rate limiting response, 429. it happened on my first POST request to the codeberg.org API today, from a home internet connection (no vpn) without a static IP. GETting issues/PRs/item timelines seems fine. perhaps the limiting needs some tweaking still? i can't see how a single post would overstep anything.

i just did a test from the Gitnex android client, and it also errored despite the POST actually succeeding and the comment appearing.

      #emacs

is there any good way to generate simple interactive tables? (for mastodon.el this time)

like a table with list of item names, next to each of which you could have a clickable boolean option for each.

(for this kind of option, vtable.el seems like overkill, it seems more designed for almost-entire-buffer tables.)

if emacs is to compete with react and vue, it really needs to get its tables in order!
