one of my first experience of world wide web was at my mom's workplace. they had the complete NeXT assortment: cubes, crts, printers, keyboard's, mice, EVERYTHING IN BLACK (if there ever was a perfect goth-hacker hardware, its this). and with NextStep OS - a unix (was it Linux or bsd? they called it Mach - predecessor to osX).

to me,
since I'm leaning more into depression spectrum,
getting up in the morning, having a coffee and breakfast, is already an achievement. and I write it down every day. It gets a check in the checkbox. I celebrate everyday that I'm able to get up. And that cheers me up. Despite all the horrible stuff happening in the word, AND in my life, I can have hope, I can have a tiny smile on my face.

otherwise there is no federated soundcloud/bandcamp (yet)

to me, the closest is actually PeerTube - if you consider YouTube being a good platform for musicians, #PeerTube should work too 'cause it has pretty much the same functionality as YT (playlists, channels, player, comments), but it's federated like mastodon posts. so you can follow a musician with a peertube account from your mastodon instance and like/comment.
