Not so #silentsunday

We demolished Dad's shed today and got it into the skip. In the process we encountered this abandoned wasp nest which I couldn't help but admire as it is so beautifully constructed.

The first 2 photos are mine, the 3rd is off the Internet just to give some idea of what it would have looked like in situ (I found it on the floor, after we'd pulled the roof down).

For #firstfridayArtWalk here's a fabric collage inspired by a winter I spent in Andalusia. I wanted to remember the layers of buildings clustered up steep hillsides, shadows on the cobbles from the low sun, the oranges, and the ever present threat of a sudden storm. It's not framed yet, or even ironed as I'm still thinking about it... Meanwhile it's on the mantle piece waiting.

Created during a series of wet & needle felting classes that I taught at the centre a few years ago. I'm new(ish) here so "hello". I work in IT but used to be a traditional builder and am always happiest working with my hands and crafting things. I have multiple enthusiasms including art, #textileart #cyanotype and printmaking, sculpture (pottery, stone, cement, wire, wood, anything), designing and building things, gardening and bonsai.
