Finally found a decent looking #XML parser for #Rust. It has zero dependencies which should make it easy to port to #embedded environments other than that it uses std::collections::Hashmap. It should have a small size as well without all the bloat.
It supports utf16 le/be which almost no other Rust xml libraries support(the other ones kind of pisses me off because it is almost the first thing in the spec).
https://github.com/kushaldas/uppsala
I will need to look at it a little more to see if its worth ditching my own library or not.

This is hilarious.

"They can then risk actual security issues by installing the app from the out-of-date system repos"

First off, installing Chrome, Discord, Steam, VSCode, and Zoom are all security issues it doesn't matter how you install them. Atleast for Discord, Steam, VSCode those apps update themselves outside of the package manager. There is no harm in using the out of date system repo or manual download to install them. If mint doesn't update packages with known security issues then they have bigger problems.

system repos, snaps, random downloads
"ALL of these options are VASTLY inferior to just installing the properly reviewed and up-to-date package from Flathub"

You are wrong. The flatpak for atleast steam is broken. It has known issues and advertising the steam flatpak is malicious. Setting the user up for failure and the developer up for unneeded help tickets. The only supported way of installing steam is the .deb on steampowered. If installing working software is VASTLY inferior than installing broken software then I will stick with the VASTLY inferior way.

"properly reviewed" You have way too much faith in flathub maintainers.

"I can only assume you are either wholly incompetent or intentionally and maliciously misinterpreting everything I’m saying.
Pretty lame."

No you. I understand you perfectly. Thats the problem.

Your original premise is "Flatpak developer verification should not be required to display a package in a package manager by default."

Which I disagree with. You should have to acknowledge in some way that you know you are installing potentially broken packages from unknown sources.
