First they killed off subscribing to series when they killed off Comixology, then you can't buy books through the Amazon App (because it's digital content and Apple/Google would take 30% of the fee), then every time I eventually try and buy through the browser (and manage to stay in it), the purchase goes through "additional verification" and doesn't complete #Enshittification

Shout out to #Vodafone - my broadband expires this month, and default was to go up by about £10, quick phone call and they've moved me to Full Fibre (finally available at home!), increased the youth's data limits and reduced my overall bill by about £40 (2x Full Fibre broadband, 4x mobile contracts and 1x device).

Now, if they can just solve the mobile signal half way through my occasional commute...

Nope. It can generate the contents, but it can't actually create a file I can download. I can copy and paste it somewhere, but for that I had to download another app to create arbitrary files on android.

Seriously, what value is this giving me? None. I spent longer trying to get this rubbish to work than it took me to enter them by hand.

What is the point of the drive to "shove copilot in everything"?

I was given a paper based list of upcoming events today and instead of entering them all by hand thought "perhaps Copilot can do that seeing as I can't get rid of the button in Outlook for Android".

Nope. First it can only work with documents (word/pdf/etc.) so scan it to pdf, it correctly parsed the events, could see where I had conflicts, but can't write toy calendar. Ok, let's generate an .ics...

Was a potential recommendation from Dana Howl's latest video on her Patron. She admitted though she hasn't tried it, and uses Apoxy Sculpt with her basing roller bases.

I'm really enjoying Just Finishing Some Models, chucking some speedpaints on these chibi styled models from Arcadia Quest Inferno.

We got into the habit of hanging it that way when the kids were old enough to use the loo unsupervised, but not old enough to not get distracted and spin the roll. Much harder to randomly unspool all the paper if it's facing the wall...

Ok, new photos after going for the Grim Black over the top of the Gravelord Grey, and applying an Anti-Shine Varnish.

The is Ignos from the "Whole Lotta Lava" expansion to Arcadia Quest Inferno from 2015. He's a minor villain, with molten rock skin that is nigh-impregnable, and his lava attacks wreak havoc all around him!

There's a difference between "really rare" and "unique".

"Yes, we are alone" wouldn't be my choice, it would be "Yes, there's only a few living at any given time".

Similarly, the other option could be"Yes, there will be other planets with life".

Life does seem to be really rare, but I can't believe it's unique to Earth.

I think the boards are far too diverse and cluttered to worry ...

Finally put some paint on a miniature from the Arcadia Quest games! The is Ignos from the "Whole Lotta Lava" expansion to Arcadia Quest Inferno from 2015. I need to decide whether to go for a scenic base, or just a simple plain colour base - any thoughts?

Yeah, I've found that the pigment fixer can end up looking like wet mud, especially if you have too much of both.

A very light brush of fixer and then more delicate application looked OK.

I've found that varnishing after applying pigment ends up with a more stained look.

All can be good, just depends on what you're going for.

As these aren't diorama builds, you need to fix it somehow: a video I saw of a modeller painting a tank showed him applying it at the end, but no touching after!

I've not really found a good way to ensure the pigments are ...

And yet not a helmet in sight... It just seems odd that they have all that armour (and exciting tech in the helmets for comms, situation awareness etc.) and now they're all walking about now with nothing on their heads except a lovely flesh coloured target.

Also, I don't like painting eyes...
