The recent SIM binding order by the Indian government is a disproportionate move for its goals. It will erode user privacy, making sharing smartphones impractical, and impact multi-device use, among other things.

As we are based in #[url=https://venera.social/search?tag=India]India[/url], we will have to abide by the laws and therefore, need to implement it. Do you want to send an SMS? If you're from India, chances are you get 100 of those every day bundled with whatever phone plan you subscribed to.

But if you're a company looking to send messages to people, the story is quite different. Prav currently uses the Twilio SMS gateway, which costs us about ₹7 per message. Since we need to send our one-time passwords (OTPs) via SMS, that makes seven rupees spent every time someone signs up (or logs in again) to Prav!
