I feel like David is describing a situation we were seeing in Rails back in the beginning as Rails was using Mootools as its default and jQuery was starting to become big.

I think the lessons we should learn from that (and the WP plugin ecosystem) is that we should keep the backend (PHP, Ruby, Python) as separate from the nuances of the frontend as possible so that nobody is stepping on anyone else's toes.

It's usually in telco buildings that date from the state-ownership of P&S. While RIX is in "the Tower" in Borgartún, most ISPs and hosting operators have their equipment at the Síminn/Míla facilities in Ármúli and Breiðholt as far as I'm aware.
