So today I moved the polytunnel sensor to a wooden stake near the ground in the polytunnel. Linked a presence detector to a smart plug so the fairy lights come on when someone is in the room when the sun is down. They switch off 60 seconds after nobody is present. Took me a while to realise that the battery powered devices do not act as network repeaters, so all my garden located devices were not visible. Then I learned that they go to sleep after a while of not seeing the network.
