All onboard, those organising the flotilla and Palestinian spokespeople know that the amount of aid the boat was carrying wouldn't touch the sides. It was to raise awareness, to force (western) governments to act and to provide symbolic solidarity to the Palestinian people. In that respect, and as part of a larger movement, it has been "effective."
