zap-dot-stream was an interesting experiment, but I think I'll be dropping it for now. I'm debating whether to multi-cast the stream in future or not... doing so doesn't seem to incur any performance cost, but it hardly seems worth the effort unless one is a Real Big Boy Streamer with a triple-digit audience. PeerTube-only seems more my speed right now.

I don't like the crux of the whole thing being a non-self-hosted service, but at the same time I realize I can just submit a feature request to PeerTube & see if they can't incorporate the same feature... ffmpeg is a dependency already, that might be doable. I'm mulling over whether or not to play with ZapStream , but I'll only do it if I can multicast alongside PeerTube. I had an nginx restreamer back in the day, but it spontaneously broke at some point and I'm not sure how to make it work again.

Zap does appear to have a stream forwarding function that could relay to PeerTube via RTMP but that would put them at the center... failures at ZapStream would knock PeerTube out too, and I don't like that.
