      In reply to &lt;a href=&#39;/nevent1qqsrl6gvz6eh3hnuv5yjyjzkrvujkhtj23a90we94zftadvhtaryxxql00vhz&#39;&gt;nevent1q…0vhz&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br/&gt;_________________________&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;AOSP is unlikely to die but more become increasingly poorly maintained and fragmented.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Projects to make new mobile operating systems have usually failed *cough* windows phone *cough* because of platform effect; it is not practical to compete with the existing library of apps that exists on android/ios (unless you manage to get virtualisation of that working and well, that has also tended to be a shitshow)&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;The primary concern will be project governance as if AOSP ends up without that there will be multiple android derivitives with different API surfaces, and a mess of everything
