40 years ago this week, "Take My Breath Away (Love Theme From "Top Gun")" by #Berlin reached the top spot, replacing "Venus" by #Bananarama after 1 week. I didn't remember any of their other hits, but I've enjoyed them as they've gone by, particularly "No More Words". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bx51eegLTY8 #1980s #MusicHistory #MusicVideo

40 years ago this week, "That Was Then, This Is Now" by #TheMonkees entered the #Top40 at 36. It peaked at 20 on 30 Aug 1986. I watched the show in reruns in the 70s, but I wasn't enough of a fan to see them on tour in the 80s. Apparently, Mike Nesmith wasn't a fan at that point, either. Maybe he was still living off that "Elephant Parts" money. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yh07ilUlaIc #1980s #MusicHistory #MusicVideo

40 years ago this week, "Sledgehammer" by #PeterGabriel reached the top spot, replacing "Invisible Touch" by #Genesis after 1 week. This makes me feel like we've entered the late 80s, with one of the iconic videos from that period. The animation was done by Aardman Animations, and the dancing chicken scene was one of #NickPark's first animation jobs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJWJE0x7T4Q #1980s #MusicHistory #MusicVideo

40 years ago this week, "Nikita" by #EltonJohn entered the #Top10 at 10. It peaked at 7 on 22 Mar 1986. If Nikita looks familiar, she threw the sledgehammer in the famous Apple Mac "1984" commercial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tg-Q-Acv4qs #1980s #MusicHistory #MusicVideo

It peaked at 30 on 30 Nov 1985. 37 years later, it climbed the charts again after being featured in "Stranger Things". That time, it peaked at 3 in the US and reached the top spot in her native UK. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wp43OdtAAkM #1980s #MusicHistory #MusicVideo

40 years ago this week, "Walking On A Thin Line" by #HueyLewis & The News entered the #Top40 at 39. It peaked at 18 on 08 Dec 1984. This was the fifth and final single from their epic album: "Sports". It was the only one of the five not to crack the top 10, but top 20 is nothing to sneeze at. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uPOPlkPAt8 #1980s #MusicHistory #MusicVideo

40 years ago this week, "The Glamorous Life" by #SheilaE. entered the #Top10 at 10. It peaked at 7 on 06 Oct 1984. I remember her as part of Prince's crowd, but I had forgotten that she played a club singer in "The Adventures of Ford Fairlane". 40 years ago this week, "The Warrior" by #Scandal featuring #PattySmyth entered the #Top10 at 8. It peaked at 7 on 22 Sep 1984. This video has all the ingredients of 80s cheese, but somehow it works for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47y5bo8wtqM #1980s #MusicHistory #MusicVideo
