They are smart in QLD. Apparently they aren’t going to use the system because the test was a test. I was a bit surprised as there didn’t seem to be any reason for the minister to leap out of the woodwork and make declaration. I’ve had trolls have a go at me that I’m not doing enough. However it a societal problem not an individual one. Individual action is laudable however it’s political and more important economic action that makes a difference. All the recycling and plastic avoidance doesn’t force the issue of electrify everything and restructuring the global economy.

climate change is nasty as it says that winners and losers may change places . The rich don’t like it because money is everything and climate change is a threat. If they are smart enough then they know it’s coming but they can’t bend to the need to provide for saving the race and the current ecology. The fact that greenhouse gas accumulation is proceeding and heat in being stored in the oceans at unprecedented rates doesn’t change the social difficulties. Most people want to the problem to be fixed but not if they have to change. Norway is an interesting example where 90% of new cars were BEVs last year. There seems to be quite a change in the makeup of service stations as the number has decreased and those that are left are shifting to provide charging facilities. There is going to be a point where finding fuel for ICE vehicles will be problematic.

Pretty amazing that everyone wants to launch a satellite based mobile phone service. Aside from the huge costs and the need to continually launch replacements they really don’t replace mobile phone towers in cities which means a more limited rural market. As tens of thousands of these spacecraft are in low orbit, it will take some fancy orbit dynamics to prevent collisions and space debris. As with anyone concerned about their families future, using launch vehicles for such dubious results is a clear and present danger to accelerating climate change.
