Of course, the air release is meant to happen automatically if pressure is exceeded. (In your case, the valve has probably failed and it may be releasing below the rated pressure).<br/><br/>Assuming a sustained (1min+) valve release doesn&#39;t fix/reduce (in which case go for 2 mins!) the issue, then if I was you, I&#39;d see if you can find a mechanism to hold the lever in place so it doesn&#39;t bubble away, and then get a plumber to replace the valve when it&#39;s reasonable to do so.
