Use of this pool is usually brief, which is good.<br/><br/>The more distant pool, women laughing and yelling is all I hear. Spoiler - every threat does not materialize - the idea is you should maybe get ready in case it does.<br/><br/>Another spoiler - most people are terrible at risk management.<br/><br/>Okay, there are threats. They could be COVID, tornadoes, fire smoke etc. You need to look at the universe of threats and decide which ones you care about and which ones you accept the risk will occur.<br/><br/>Most people accept the threat that they will get COVID and do no mitigation. Some will choose to mitigate smoke. Most of us acknowledge that cars crash so we put on seat belts. <br/><br/>The threat analysis is just a discussion of what might happen. a tornado watch might spur this discussion if you feel vulnerable to them (like you live in a house or are outside). They want you to analyze (think about) things in advance. <br/><br/>A risk can be considered a threat that has materialized. If you are concerned with this threat, you take some kind of action. <br/><br/>So, for a tornado warning (essentially a risk of tornado), you go look at the radar and lightning maps. Then you decide on on the severity of the risk (i.e. will it hit us) and the probably outcomes (house wrecked, vs. chairs in neighbours yard). You don&#39;t neccesarily assume that it will hit you - you need to try to figure it out and take appropriate action to mitigate a bad outcome. <br/><br/>yesterday, I took a look at the lightning and radar and decided it was going south of me. I checked every 15 minutes to confirm no changes. Others were not so lucky. <br/><br/>If nothing happened to you, should consider yourself lucky - not mad that you were disturbed (this was not about you). <br/><br/>And the worst thing to do is decide to ignore future warnings because you lucky once.
