My favorite was when I was up at Carter Notch on my birthday, the end of January. My wife and kids had slipped a birthday candle and a card into my pack. No open flames allowed in the hut, of course. Even if someone looks like a stereotypical cis-man or cis-woman, that doesn’t mean per pronouns are he or she. If person doesn’t have pronouns on per profile, I usually ask, no matter how they present. The jars are available here at just about every supermarket. While the USA was still a going concern, the USDA published guidelines on time and temperature for canning food, which is what it is called when you preserve things in jars. The metal cans were a more recent version of this technology. They will also keep food safe for decades. Whether in a metal can or a glass jar, canned food loses texture and color within about 5 years.
