We've been busy implementing p2panda's high-level Node API!

It's an opiniated - but also much easier to use, out-of-the box p2panda stack: the thing which orchestrates all of our individual modules without all the footguns you might encounter when trying to assemble them yourself.

Example:

Groups from p2panda-auth offers a solution for decentralised group management, exactly how you use them in your application is up to you. For sure you can have a sub-set of members who are admins / writers as you describe, and all other members have only read access. If you're describing a use case where even non-members can read posts in the forum, then these identities would not need to be added to the group at all as requests could be handled independently of groups.

We're still processing all the great discussions had at the P2P Basel workshop this year! Deep technical experience and insights were shared around the table, with folks from Uni Basel, iroh, SSB/tinySSB, Braid, Willow, Cabal, Qual, Pijul and p2panda in attendance.

Yesterday the "Reflection" project started officially as part of the new Prototype Fund (npub1y8k…05lv) round! 🌟🌈

The team consists of p2panda (npub1a2z…v48a) and people from the GNOME gang around Tobias Bernard (npub1dkc…3gke) and Julian Sparber (npub16d8…0x8u).

We gonna release "Reflection" (formerly Aardvark) - a GTK-based, collaborative, local-first text editor! Aaaand:

All of this is part of a larger effort to explore p2p code, UX patterns, reusable UI components, debugging tools, organize events and document our learnings.

Two weeks ago, the p2panda core team gathered in Berlin—hanging in the park, forest, and the "Cultivation Space" in Wedding.

We focused on aligning our efforts around new encryption schemes, robust atomic transactions, groups, and access control.

This is the first big step towards unifying our work into a "super pipeline" that will enable apps to manage access, secure data, support relays, handle multi-device setups, and more.

This week we did a working session in BOARC, Bidston Observatory, an amazing self-organised community center close to Liverpool, UK (with a radio station in the basement!).

We finalized and tested the first, experimental prototype of Toolkitty, an mobile and desktop app for collectives to share resources & spaces and organise events!

And we launched it's website! 🥳

2. Since 3 months we get support from HIRO, a company integrating p2panda as a decentralized message broker 😻
4. We start with the native GTK collaborative text editor with folks from GNOME (npub1dug…kxeq), hack fest in Berlin tba soon! 😻
