In reply to nevent1q…8nm4
_________________________

I think here we should think of ux in the broadest sense possible: not just the looks and the functionalities, but most importantly the feel: generating engagement with their algorithm, welcoming new users with starter packs all fueled the twitter nostalgia (which is not to be mistaken with ignorance to the infrastructure).

I think it helps in understanding the phenomenon if we make a distinction that there have been two major exoduses (exodi ?) of twitter so far: the first wave left because of obvious moral reasons (and because they have had not much to lose), the second (current) wave decided to leave when it became clear that twitter was sinking, and sinking fast. The first wave has been won by mastodon, the second one have improved the bluesky userbase. The second wave probably contained much more users who have invested a lot of time and money to create a self-brand on twitter (and that made them reluctant to leave). For them, easing the transition in all the ways possible is obviously a major factor.

The exciting part is that most likely there is going to be a third way, in my opinion: big media companies, major opinion leaders and their court. Whoever wants to increase their userbase, they need to start thinking about how to make their service most appealing to them.

Hi all, thanks for letting me in.

Short #introduction: I am a software engineer who wants to be a useful one. :python:

I live in Szeged, Hungary. I am here to discover some cool people and probably do sth even cooler together :opensource: .

My interests like to vary, currently they are #Japan, #radio, #podcasts, #storytelling, #literature, #movies. I do think life is much easier when you pretend it is a sitcom.
