I often think of one Christmas in particular, maybe 6-7 years ago when my boys were 17, 22, and 24. We have been renovating our house for 22 years now… but that year was particularly chaotic and I couldn’t find our angel. I was getting very upset and stressy. It was getting pretty bad when my middle son stormed into the kitchen, air blue with cursing (“ffs mum… etc etc) I could hear a horrible crunching noise, followed by what sounded like sawing… he marched back into the living room and jammed something on the top of the tree. It was half a red and silver aluminium coke can. He turned to me and with disgust in his voice said “For gods sake mum, get a grip. It’s not what’s on top of the tree, it’s who’s around it that matters!”. And that was a humbling reminder. That coke can lived in our box of Christmas decorations for years. We found the angel some years later, but my favourite tree topper will always be a coke can. It’s such a cool thing to do. My soap is made from olive oil, coconut oil, and avocado oil as the base. I make huge quantities as I sell them in my gift store. I also have developed techniques and essential oil combinations over the years that I (and my customers) love, so your wife can play with the oils she likes to create her own. There are some great soap calculators online to help with percentages of water/oil/sodium hydroxide to ensure the soap ph level is safe at the end of curing time. I’d need to know a bit more about the kind of soap she wants to make before I could help her with a recipe (for example: lather vs non lather, face vs body, hard vs non drying etc) and what oils she easily has access to.
