That I could boot Linux off a CD/DVD/USB key, is amazing. Of course, practically every distro can do this today, but Knoppix was the first one I could do this with. I still have a Knoppix (modified) USB key in my wallet, so I never leave home without it! <br/><br/>7. Vim! I started using vi with Xenix back in the 1980s, so I eventually moved to vim when Linux came around. Nowadays, I use mostly Emacs but with evil-mode since my fingers can&#39;t forget the vim keybindings. <br/><br/>But vim is editing at the speed of thought, as they say. <br/><br/>8. Linux&#39;s bash shell is a great improvement over the Bourne shell I spent so many years in. Its search-able command line history, command line editing saves so much time.
