These are the first batch of DIY tree oracle cards I've made. I'm really enjoying the process - connecting with each tree, thinking about the characteristics of the species, but also the characteristics of the specific individual trees I see on my walks. Would definitely recommend this kind of project to anyone trying to deepen their connection with their local trees!

My favourite fungi of the day were these weird and wonderful things, which we think are King Alfred's Cakes. I love how glossy and wet-looking they are, almost like slugs! :blobhearteyes:

Today we went walking near Hebden Bridge, and saw lots of lovely autumnal trees. Mostly oak and beech, lots of sycamore, and quite a few deciduous conifers. Hopefully we'll get a chance to go back there in November to see how the colours have changed later in the season 🍂

I drew one of my favourite trees! This is a birch we often see on our walks around the Longshaw Estate in the Peak District. It's such a lovely distinctive landmark, standing on its own at the edge of the moor.

I finished some fair isle socks! I enjoyed knitting these, but definitely regretted choosing such low-contrast colours 🙈

The motifs are from the book 200 Fair Isle Designs by Mary Jane Mucklestone, and the yarn is West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 Ply in Butterscotch and Marshmallow.

For the autumn equinox, me and Lemon Disco (npub1zdr…z96u) made model dragonflies out of twigs, beads, and sycamore helicopter-seeds. It was lots of fun, we definitely need to do more seasonal crafts 🎃

I finished some more socks! This pattern has become my default TV-knitting project, it's basically just the "Socks On a Plane" pattern but cuff-down, with an Eye of Partridge heel and a cable on both sides.

I think I'll do one more pair of these, and then switch to knitting fair isle socks for a while.

This is Digby's flower ✨ He's a Tradescantia pallida 'Kartuz Giant', so his leaves are pretty big, but the flowers are relatively small in comparison. I like the delicate pink-purple colour of the petals, very pretty :blobhearteyes:
