There are many features which generally prevent Pagan religions from falling into this trap. Firstly, no exclusive holy books (eg. orthopraxy not orthodoxy). Secondly, no exclusive claim to truth. Thirdly, Interpretatio Graeca/Romana (which are not limited to Greek or Rome).
