I think next time when it gets within a year of needing new glasses, I’ll keep an eye out for frames on special. I won’t be able to keep using old frames forever. I will keep the ones I’m wearing now though as I like them.

Well that was a shock. I’ve had my eyes sorted & new lenses ordered for some old frames I have. I expected the price to have gone up especially as it’s been 4yrs since the last update, but even with the discount it was still just over $800 😳. Plus I needed some more eye drops - I’m glad the govt pay for all the testing!
Then off to the supermarket for a few small things for my 4 nights house sitting & now I’m home for the afternoon.
I had thought I might mow this afternoon, but I have decided to leave that job for tomorrow.

Been feeling cold all day, but not needing the heater type of cold, but now my face is hot, my head is fuzzy, my joints ache & I’m still cold even after a hot shower. So foregoing my dinner & it’s bed for me.

What a fabulous & productive day doing the things you enjoy. That’s great - but you know what, half a kilo is just 500g, a large packet of butter (mmmm - butter 🧈). You can easily vary by over a kg a day, all depending on what you’ve eaten the day before & the fluid you’re carrying.
My rule of thumb is 2kg either way before I get bothered about it. You need leeway for living life.

Good morning tooters. Sleeping super soundly & longer after daylight savings end, it does help that it’s a little cooler as well. A nice 12c when I got up today & it’s beautiful & sunny outside heading to 25c.
I could go swimming today, but the exercise class I did yesterday involved a fair bit of shoulder work so I think I’m just going to take myself off for a walk.
Easter 🐣 weekend was good fun. Really enjoyed my family time with all the grandkids on Sunday, my youngest granddaughter gifted me a garden ornament, it’s very bright & a little different & it made me laugh. It is of course now in the garden in a pot that will produce orange flowers after winter. Yesterday I just had a quiet day just going to my sisters place to say goodbye to her visitors & came home with a cooked chook as they’d bought too many & a sweet potato that is sprouting, looks awesome - I’d mentioned I was looking for one & I hope I can keep it going until springtime to plant out the slips.

Good morning tooting friends. Another glorious morning that I’ve watched eventuate over an hour or so. It was 9c overnight & I was up just before 6am. Today it’s heading to 26c & a beautiful clear sky.
I’ve already stripped & remade my bed, washed the sheets & hung them out. This time I decided it was about time to put the electric blanket back on the bed because while I don’t need it yet, it won’t be long before I do. So I’m ready for & looking forward to the cooler nights to come.
Not a huge amount on today, just whipper snipping & mowing once the sun dries off the lawn, so around lunch time probably, that’ll be my exercise for the day 😁.
I’ve realised it may be a while before anything is done to the outside of my place to help stop any flooding in future. I spoke to the tradie who assessed my place, he’s part of the crew repairing damage done in the front unit when the tenants left, which is apparently quite extensive & the damage to him next doors bathroom which is now fully gutted, even the walls. So some very expensive repairs going on in both those units. I think my issue will be way down the list of need 🫤 🤷🏼‍♀️. I really need to find out from community housing if it’s on the back burner or what because I know nothing!

Well it’s not pretty but my goodness it’s tasty.
I had a little left over butter chicken & sauce, not even enough for one meal. Cooked up some pieces of onion & sweet potato & smashed them together & into the chicken & sauce. Topped with a little ghee that melted into the sauce. Served with black rice that I also added salt & ghee to after it was cooked & om goodness it’s delicious & another meal for tomorrow as well. Not bad for a meal stretch & I love black rice 😃. #Food #NoWasteCooking #Dinner

How to know you’re tired. Kefir needs decanting, go to fridge & look inside for about 30secs before it clicks I’m after the milk. New bottle of milk, use a knife to cut through the plastic ring on the lid because I don’t want a wildlife to get caught in it & in the process cut the joint at the base of my thumb. Realise the hydralyte I made myself a couple of hours ago is still on the bench. Spend way too long wandering around mindlessly this afternoon because I keep forgetting what I was doing. Now showered, in pjs & will be super early in bed. I’m very thankful my dinner only needs heating up. Whewwwwww so tired 🥱.
I’m still glad I did do those lawns after swimming though, I’ve just received a thunderstorm warning. Don’t know if there’s much in it, but it will only make things damper than they already are anyway.
Have now parked myself in front of the tv watching The Time Travellers Wife & I’m glad I know the storyline because I don’t think I’m taking much in 😬.

Good morning Fedi friends & it’s a muggy grey & warm morning of 19c with 95% humidity. It won’t be getting much warmer either as it’s forecast to only reach 23c & the rain is supposed to be clearing by this evening. It’s been good soaking rain & not a deluge & my garden & I appreciate it.
Something odd going on with him next door. He went out at 5.30am & came back at 6am driving up the driveway in his big ute & it is still parked in the driveway with the drivers side door wide open 🤷🏼‍♀️. While he & I don’t get on & I won’t engage with him generally. This is very unusual & I hope all is ok as he’s rarely blocking the driveway for anything more than about 15mins nowadays - unlike some years ago when I was forever asking him to move so I could go out. Which if he’s still there in an hour I’ll have to do 😏. I hate having to deal with these things, it spikes my anxiety.
Simple day today, no swimming unfortunately as I want a haircut if I can, also a spot of grocery shopping, just stocking up on my essentials & then to Bunnings for potting mix & maybe a plant or two - I do love payday 😁.

Well it’s been raining steadily all afternoon, but not storming & I keep checking my back area, but don’t want to open that back door. So I stand in the bath & look out the window 😂 & all is good. There also looks to be a lot more coming tomorrow from SA. If it stays like this I’m fine with it. If it pelts down again, I’ve done all I can to protect things. The good news is that maintenance is coming on Wednesday to quote for work that needs doing. I know housing will pick the minimum required & I’m ok with that if it works but I still plan on going to the SES for sandbags & every time I go away, I’ll block that back door.
I tried to get a remedial massage appointment for my back tomorrow, but there’s none available & as I need to be home on Wednesday an appointment for the massage is now for Thursday afternoon & I can’t wait.

Good morning tooters. Quite a warmish night, back to one light blanket & 17c when I got up pre dawn. Rain is forecast for today, not a lot though & it is supposed to reach 28c. Not much blue sky to be seen, but a lot of light grey clouds. A little rain would be very welcome - just a little though 😊.
It’s bread day, fresh bread smells filled my place by 7.30am & it’s a good ‘un. It’s been ages since I’ve baked bread & it was lovely going through this simple process over the last day or so. Soup making will the next thing, although I still have a large bag of frozen tomatoes to make into passata sometime this week. Either or it’s no big deal which I do.
Planning a short balance class this morning too as I’m still having some back issues that won’t quit. I see a massage may be needed before the week is out.
My sister is still in hospital having tests this morning, we will know more when those results come in. I’ll visit her this afternoon to see how she is.

Good morning Fedi friends & what a lovely cool morning it is. It was 15c when I got up a couple of hours ago, still had a fan going all night though which was lovely. Getting a little warmer today reaching 32c & it’s still humid but it’s dropped to just under 80%. The day is forecast to be sunny as well, so hopefully things dry out some more.
I’m heading up to my place as soon as I’m showered. If I think it’s still too damp to mow I will whipper snip & clip the worst of it & leave the mowing for another 24hrs. It’s pretty overgrown so it may be the best option for me anyway & easier on my back. It’ll be the first time using the new whipper snipper which while the same brand is an updated version & feels a little different. Anyway that’s my plan for the morning.
What is it with cats. Happy outside & comes in just to use the litter box before asking to go out again. Plus - how the hell did this cat 🐈‍⬛ manage to leave me an upright 💩 to clean up. Some special balancing there!

Good morning tooters. It’s still very overcast outside & damp with 87% humidity. It was 21c when I got up & today the sky is supposed to clear to a warm 31c. I hope so, I want to go up home & mow tomorrow morning.
Not the greatest nights sleep, up to the bathroom around 2am & then thinking, thinking & pretending to myself I was asleep but was barely dozing before finally falling into a deep sleep & not waking until 6.30am & I’m still a bit sleep groggy.
I’m off to the pool for a swim shortly & am certainly looking forward to it. It’s been a beautiful cooling relief for me this summer. It’s time for me to get moving.

Good morning tooters. Very overcast & grey today with drizzle around & still extremely humid. It’s was 22c when I got up & today it should get to an uncomfortable 29c with this humidity.
I’m doing what I need to do, but feel quite ordinary this morning with a bit of an upset tummy & no idea why 🤷🏼‍♀️. So plain toast with a little Vegemite for brekky with a cup of tea, no coffee & now I’m up at home with another cup of tea & waiting for the maintenance guy to come, although he’s not due for another hour. I had plans to go to Albury after this & visit some op shops, catch up with a friend, normal stuff but - nah - quiet day for me I think.

It’s raining, raining, raining - only 20c with 96c humidity 🤪. At least it’s not storming type rain, just drenching everything rain. I went up home to satisfy myself that I’ve done all I can to stop it getting into the garage again, but really don’t think it’s heavy enough. I know logically it’ll probably be ok, but I can’t help feeling a little stressy & experienced another aural migraine while I was there, the other eye this time & not for as long so just stayed for an hour to make sure it was gone & I was ok to come back to the sit. Also picked a couple more tomatoes & grabbed some mint to go with it. I need to cook some up tonight to have with dinner as I have a lot. The large crepe Myrtle I bought doesn’t seem very happy in its pot either. I think I may have to get in the ground this week sometime. #Weather #Stress #AuralMigraine #Garden.

I’ve been home from my sisters over two hours now & I developed a bit of an issue driving home. I noticed my left eye starting to lose vision to the left of the eyeball. No pain or anything. I pulled up at Aldi as I wanted a couple of things & by the time I got out of there I had a full on aural migraine in that eye. They’re painless, but I can’t see properly & had to get home. So I drove but with my left eye closed. It has only in the last half hour fully disappeared. I get them when I’ve been under stress, the very first time was when we got back home after adopting my daughter & they may happen once or twice a year. They don’t harm me, but they’re so weird & I’m thankful it wasn’t both eyes! #AuralMigraine

Good morning tooters. I can barely believe it but I slept over 8 & 1/2 hrs last night. I can’t remember the last time I slept that long & when I sleep longer than normal I say I must have needed it - & I must have really needed it last night! It was about 23c when I woke up to grey overcast skies & today is supposed to be a rainy 29c & looking at the BOM that rain isn’t far away.
I prepared a chia & oat porridge last night for today’s breakfast & I’m glad I did as I didn’t have to think about it, just heat it & while I didn’t have a banana, my usual favourite to add I did have blackberries & a few grapes - it was ok - banana is better.
I let the cat out when I got up, he was a long time out there before he asked to come in for breakfast & I thought he was obviously doing his ablutions. I cleaned his litter trays while he was out there & when I let him in - he didn’t ask for breakfast, he used the litter box & asked to go outside again 🤷🏼‍♀️ - cat humour again!
Only plan for today is to visit my sister & give her the books I picked from a couple of street libraries & have a catch up chat on our week for a couple of hours. All depending on how I’m feeling, I may do a yoga class later today.

Good morning Fedi friends. Awake at predawn as seems to be my usual nowadays. It was a pleasant & cool 19c this morning but heading to a hot 33c & feels less humid today thank goodness. I’ll be watering the garden again before I know it at this rate.
I let old Stormy out, I let old Stormy back in again & then gave him his breakfast & let him out again! Cat 🐈‍⬛ routine! He will now happily stay out for most of the day & he comes in around 4pm, done for the day. He’s already discovered his blanket is on the end of my bed & lay beside it on the pristine quilt leaving black fur all over it 🫤 - typical cat 🐈‍⬛ sense of humour.
I was quite lightheaded when I got up & I know why. I’m feeling a lot less stressed than I have all week now I’m away from the outside mess at my place & lightheadedness is the result of the stress being released. I know what I need to do to help myself though. Even though I go through the motions of doing what needs to be done, I know it affects me. I took a picture of what the inside of my garage looks like now & you can clearly see how much silt went through under that back door & the tarps I’ve put down so that I can walk through & not track the fine silt inside my unit.

All my jobs I needed to do are done, the only thing I couldn’t get rid of is a large indoor blind, but that’s ok. I can deal with that later. I have the new flyscreen curtain for outside of the laundry door but have realised I need to get something else so I can attach it. Nothing is straightforward anymore & that job can wait too!
The saga of my flooding problems continue though - my hot water system isn’t working. I hadn’t noticed until today as I’ve been having cool showers with barely any hot water, so I’ve probably just been using what was in the tank & pipes. It won’t restart & the pilot light button doesn’t even click 🫤. Rang maintenance & it’ll be dealt with today. #FloodingSaga

Some things went well when I went out this morning, some things didn’t. The first op shop wasn’t taking donations, the second only accepts things on Thursday & Saturday & finally the recycle shop took the lot & I spoke about 2 other things I have & was told to bring them in & they’d have a look. Then off to Bunnings for more hits & misses. I’ve found something to replace the little wheel that should be on the door frame to push the weather strip down & prevent water getting in. Then searched for fly mesh door curtain & I’d measured my doorway & thought I’d found what I wanted but then had doubts I’d measured correctly & decided to give it a miss until I could check. I had measured correctly - better safe than sorry though & will go & get it tomorrow when I take the other bits & pieces down to the recycle shop 😊.
Also I’ve had a txt msg to say a work task has been created & a contractor will arrange access within 14days. About time!
I’m done for the day 😄.

Yes well, my garage & back garden did flood again & worse than last time. I’ve taken pictures & emailed my housing manager, hopefully it’ll be dealt with properly this time. Silt, dirt & debris everywhere ☹️. It’s going to be impossible for me to clean it all up myself, I can do some but not the fine crap in the garage. I can’t wear anything on my feet when I come into the house from the garage either due to the silt. What a mess. I’ve emailed community housing, just waiting to hear back. I estimate it came up at least 15cm as the overflow gully drain was topped with a pile of litter.

This weather is off the charts. 24 flooding events in Wodonga right now. Doesn’t seem to be any up where I live so fingers crossed. Nothing I can do about it at the moment, but home tomorrow with fingers crossed 🫤.

Good morning tooters. It was 20c when I got up today, double what it was yesterday morning & today we’re supposed to get to 29c with rain to come, but as I well know that doesn’t always happen. Up, dressed & out of the door with the dogs by 6am again & it is a lovely morning today.
Home again & it involves getting breakfast for the dogs, then the cat & finally the chooks - then I can make my own, wholemeal crumpets with butter & Vegemite- yummy & which I’m now finishing along with a coffee.
I came across an apple tree while walking that was laden with red apple’s & leaning over the fence, so I picked one - I want one of these apple trees, delicious & a gorgeous pink inside. The garden it was in also had persimmons, quinces & an almond. There was probably more but I definitely focused on the apple.
I’m off for a shower & will then take another walk to catch up with my friend who lives not far away.

Good morning tooters. Quite a warm night here in Chiltern, but a very cool start to my day. I was awake early, not that I wanted to be but my body couldn’t agree with my brain. I managed to stay in bed until there was some light appearing in the sky just before 6am, then up & dressed, leads on the dogs & out of the door for a walk & it was a very cool 10c here. The sky may have been getting light, but the sun was nowhere near up. Even the rabbits weren’t out, did notice some plovers in the gloom of the park.
It was a lovely walk though & by the time I got near to Anderson park lake, which is nearly empty of water, I started to see rabbits & after going through the reserve there was a mob of kangaroos next to the local footy ground. By the time I was around 10mins from home the sun was finally starting to appear.
It’s going to get to a very hot 37c today & I have to go into town this afternoon for dinner out with the family. I was thinking of heading home to water the garden, but I think everything will be ok as I well watered yesterday morning & apparently rain is forecast tomorrow 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼.

I’ve done my jobs & am ready for lunch. Did my exercise class, visited 3 different street libraries to place books & see what was available. I now have 3 for my sister to read, 2 of which I quite fancy reading myself. Then to the reject shop, great place for cheap detergent & bits & pieces. After that to the plant farm where I chose 2 crepe Myrtle’s & a Bay tree. The flame red crepe Myrtle will look spectacular as it grows & will get to 3 metres tall, the dwarf Myrtle to 2 metres & the Bay will be in a pot. Very happy with that. I just a little climbing plant now that’s easy to look after & not too vigorous. Also bought 4 bags of potting mix as there’s more things I want to do outside when it cools off a bit. #Garden #NewTrees

Swapping out sugar with another form of sugar is self defeating. It does nothing to address the issue that people eat way too much prepared sweet things than at any other time in our history & it’s increasing because recipes for sweet products are everywhere. We all like how it makes us feel to eat something sweet, but when you cut it out you realise it’s dulled your tastebuds to naturally sweet things.

Good morning tooting friends. Such a solid sleep last night, I was very tired even though I nana napped yesterday afternoon. In bed by 9.30pm & could barely get through one chapter of my book. I’m reading The Alice Network by Kate Quinn at the moment, I’m enjoying it but it’s confronting & sad. I did rouse a few times during the night but all in all it was a near 8hr sleep. Go me 😁.
It was 14c when I got up & while I’m very aware that the seasons are definitely changing. The days end up still quite warm by late afternoon. It’s going to be in the 30’s all week & 32c is where we’ll get to today. It’s beautiful outside right now, lovely & sunny but relatively cool - perfect.
I need to do some work on my tiny garden out the very back of my unit. It’s a small area where my clothesline is & a tiny amount of lawn. I also have some large pots there that I repurposed from the two halves of an old rolling compost bin & there’s a small ground garden I built a few years ago that has really struggled after the flooding & then the heat. Plants need to be removed, cut back etc. I’ll tidy it up & make a plan as to what to do there next. I’d like to get another bay tree but have it in one of the large pots, they do well in pots & there’s nothing quite like fresh bay leaves.

I’m going offline for a day or two. A very dear friend of mine in NZ who’s been there for me when my son was tiny, when I adopted my daughter & when my marriage broke - every step of the way she’s been there. Her lovely husband got in touch an hour ago to let me know she has died. I’ve known something has been wrong for a while, I just didn’t know what & when he contacted me, I just knew 💔. She was the most beautiful & gentle soul & I’m going to miss her deeply.

Do you know what I’m looking forward too more than anything - it’s being cool enough to have the windows & doors open & not be too hot or too cold. That beautiful in between times. Good morning tooters. Not the best sleep, even with the aircon on I was restless. Woke sometime after 1am then around 3am, up at 4.30am to turn off the aircon & open up & then into a sound sleep for 2hrs 🙄. It was 23c outside when I got up & went out to water. Birdbaths & water containers are filled, those little birds were in & out of the Dogwood again today & I think I know why - baby ladybirds hide in the folds of the leaves & new growth. They’re after their own brekky. Today it’s our turn for the extreme heat of 45c 🥵 - not looking forward to it at all.
I’m breakfasted & showered. I’ve also done a short Pilates class because I need something physical, puttering around the house or garden isn’t enough for me & I’m too hot to do very much else.
Having an inspection today around lunchtime or just after, it’s only because the people in the front unit are moving out & the housing manager is killing two birds with one stone. I feel sorry for her having to be out in the heat today. I wonder who we will get next 🤷🏼‍♀️ & I hope they aren’t loud 😬.

I’m having a G&T - a bit late in the evening but still - an old friend & I have parted ways with each other & it’s my decision after catching up with her this evening. We worked together for many years & she’s always been a Lib supporter. We never let it get in the way of things before though. We always avoided politics & the like as we got on in other ways. She told me she’s no longer supporting the Libs, she’s joining One Nation even going to a meeting in Wangaratta in Feb. I’m devastated & shocked. Good morning tooting friends. What a wonderful sleep last night, so much cooler, so much more comfortable & 7+hrs. It was 19c when I got up but the air just felt so much fresher after that bit of rain last night. Not a huge amount but enough to make a big difference. It’s getting up to an ok 31c today, the smoke has gone & I can see the distant hills clearly. I might still need to lower the outdoor blind this afternoon due to the angle of the sun but that’s ok. Eventually there’ll be tree growth to fix that 😊.
More housework this morning - bit meh about it, but it needs doing
I’m also going to visit my sister today as I haven’t seen her in nearly two weeks & I’ve been invited to the movies on Sunday morning to see Choral. I don’t know anything about it but I haven’t been to the movies in such a long time that I’m keen to go anyway.
If I feel inclined, I might even mow the lawns this afternoon, it all depends on whether or not I’ll be feeling lazy or not after lunch 😂.

Some months ago I had an item sprouting in the cupboard & sliced off the bit with the sprouting part & planted it. Did all the right things, cared for it, watched the plant grow & it seemed to be doing well. I often excitedly thought of what could be growing underneath. This afternoon I noticed the leaves had disappeared. I tipped the container upside down to produce one lone Purple Congo Spud 😕. ONE!
I expected at least 3-4, hoped for more & this one has actually been in the ground a wee bit too long as it is. I might wait for it to sprout & try again. #GardenFail #NextTime #TryAgain

Good morning tooters. It was nearly 6.30am & 12c when I finally got up today & it’s heading to a cloudy 26c. The #BOM forecast rain yesterday afternoon, we got none & I even watered the garden to tempt fate, no such luck. No rain is forecast for today, but there’s been 2 showers since around 6am mind you & it showed up on their radar 🤷🏼‍♀️. Maybe I should use a couple of apps & pick the middle ground 😂.
My back is a little touchy this morning, so backing off any formal exercise today. I know I’ve been pushing a little lately, especially with some of the Pilates routines & yoga twists. Some think that yoga is passive exercise, but some of the poses & stretches are very strong & active, really working the muscles.
I was meeting a friend for coffee, but she has a head cold & has cancelled & as I have hayfever I get it. So I’m going to Bunnings & grab a few things including whipper snipper blades & potting mix & do a little light work outside. Apart from that a quiet day is what I’ll be having.

Gaaaah - just nipped down the street to pick up milk & butter. Came home & there’s a damn car blocking the drive & I can’t get up to my garage. I’m anxious straight away as where it’s put it could be visiting either of the two other units. No answer at the front unit & that leaves him next door & of course that’s where the driver is ☹️. He yells out wanting to know who it is, so I just politely call out to ask the driver of the car to please move & go back to my car. I only have to wait a minute but I really hate doing this - it shouldn’t happen, he should be telling them to park out on the street.

Good morning tooting friends. What a chilly night & me regretting taking the electric blanket off the bed again 🥶. It was 3c when I got up & the air definitely had that winter chill feel as opposed to the *it’s nearly summer* feel. It’s about 7c now though & heading to a pleasant sunny 😎 22c. Bright blue cloudless & still morning as well. It’s lovely outside now but I did need to top the bed with another blanket for warmth last night.
Met the family at a local tavern last night for a meal which wasn’t brilliant but typical pub fare & I’m happy I kept my meal simple with just a steak & salad. My sister wasn’t handling being out very well, she looked frail & was very cold but refused my warm jacket or her daughters thick cardigan. It was close to dark & I was nearly home when my phone rang, it’s my niece - they arrived back at my sisters to realise they had left the house keys inside & could I come down to let them in. It was full dark & half an hour later before I finally got home.
This morning I don’t have much to do so I’m thinking a gentle balance class would be lovely, after which I have a number of bags to take to the op shop or recycle centre.

Today was a good day, but I’m quite pooped now. My friend & I had a lovely nearly 6km walk around the river. Came across a lovely little parrot have a feed from some fallen, or torn off bottle brush I even managed to get a photo that is only slightly blurry - that’s birds for you though, they won’t stand still & pose. Once I got home & sorted out my sourdough (baking hopefully tomorrow) I then mowed my lawns, went & bought some more potting mix, not as much as I wanted as I am nearly out of whipper snipper blades & have now used it all. By early afternoon I’d had enough & sat on my bum feeling quite dozy for the rest of the afternoon - no nap though. I’m hoping for a swim tomorrow but will see how I pull up in the morning before I decide yay nor nay. I will definitely visit my niece & husband tomorrow afternoon though.
