We were sitting high stools at a small table top and my jacket was in my lap. I was leaning forward in case of droppings that might land on it. A week ago Thursday, the College Station City Council held a closed door executive meeting w/council members only. After that, they held an open meeting that had about 400 CS citizens in attendance. The council had just voted unanimously not to sell approximately 300 acres to be used as a Data Center in South College Station behind Costco &amp; directly across the road from Pecan Lakes subdivision (read fairly well off folks in big houses and a golf course). I was greatly relieved, having grown up in CS. <br/><br/>Jump forward a week, and the Bryan City Council unanimously voted to approve a Data Center to be built out on the Rellis Campus of Texas A&amp;M west of town a tiny bit. I was utterly shocked. I had not seen or heard of a Data Center being discussed for Bryan. <br/><br/>To me it spells lunacy. Since I watched the entire 60 Minutes story on the Elon Musk Data Center that he placed just outside Memphis, TN &amp; very close to an all black populated area of about 34,000. I watched in horror as they spoke to people getting sick in that neighborhood from the noxious fumes emitted by the gas burning turbines. Musk was granted permits for 15 gas turbines, but is operating with 33. 60 minutes was told Musk bought off the Mayor and some others to get the deal. <br/>approved. <br/><br/>Now, I see where huge Data Centers are planned all over the USA. Folks, those things use up local water &amp; put off terrible smelling fumes, and one report I read today said they use up a tremendous amount of electricity, but guess who is paying for it?
