It's the root of transhumanistic eugenics and fascist glorification of the white male athletic body as propagated by the Nazis and their sculptor Arno Breker.

Es gibt offensichtlich mehr als genug Gründe dafür, authentischen palästinensischen Stimmen kein Gehör zu verschaffen. Die Künste sind eigentlich als Ort jener Freiheit gedacht, die keinen Zugang zum bürgerlichen Wohnzimmer haben soll. Grenzgänge und -überschreitungen sind für die Kunst ebenso lebenswichtig wie die Freiheit, auch unbequemen Positionen Geltung zu verschaffen, um das ganze Potential menschlicher Emanzipation ausloten zu können.

Der deutsche Kulturbetrieb hingegen scheint ein walled garden, ein sorgsam eingehegtes Gebiet zu sein, in dem die Unterwerfung unter Staatsräson und Gewaltmonopol zur Kunstform erhoben sprich hübsch dekoriert und mundgerecht aufbereitet wird.

In declaring the perpetrators to be the real heroes defending Israel by any means necessary,

There seems to be a strong movement among film makers and actors to politicize the festival to show solidarity with the people in Gaza and protest against the genocide and famine they are subjected to by Israel.

That would be especially rewarding as German politicians and media scandalized the words of filmmakers Basel Adra and Yuval Abraham on the stage of the Berlinale in February 2024 as antisemitic. Receiving the Berlinale Documentary Award and the Panorama Audience Award for Best Documentary Film for "No Other Land" they had something to say about the apartheid policy Israel practices in occupied West Bank. That was too much for the managers of Germany's cultural industry to bear.

If Venice turns out to be a big manifestion in supporting Palestinians that would be a support for all activists supporting Palestine and being subjected to state repression for this act of conscience.

In der FR vertritt Bartov die gleiche Linie mit besonderer Hinwendung zu DE., was bedeutet, dass der unerträgliche Doppelstandard der deutschen Staatsräson und der sie vollziehenden Bundesregierung langsam, aber sicher rechtswirksame Konsequenzen hervorbringt.

Dass das allerdings den repressiven Druck auf die palästinasolidarische Bewegung verringert, wage ich zu bezweifeln. An der Polizeigewalt gegen ihre Aktivist:innen zeigt sich, dass der Kampf für die Befreiung der Palästinenser:innen sehr viel weitergehende, antikolonialistische, antimilitaristische und staatskritische Implikationen hat. Hier könnte sich eine neue Generation basisdemokratischen Widerstands formieren, das weiß diese Regierung sehr genau.

This quite interesting interview with an insider of the UN administrative apparatus shows that it's mainly a matter of personal courage and conscience whether you use such a position to achieve meaningful impact or just bend to the powers that be.

Albanese has done the former and actually is more than qualified for a position where she is chosen not by political maneuvering like Baerbock, but a candidate of the people, as Falk stresses:

"It is appropriate and a hopeful sign of the changing times that she is mentioned so often as deserving of the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, and even to be championed as the people’s choice to be the next UN Secretary General, fitting rejections of the spiteful U.S. sanctions imposed on July 9 of this year."

Of course the Nobel Peace Price often falls prey to political machinations, so such a choice could reinforce its credibility.

In the Sixties young Germans asked their parents how they could have let that happen what everybody knew but only few people tried to fight - the annihilation of German and European Jews in extermination camps like Auschwitz-Birkenau or Treblinka. They often excused themselves answering that they couldn't know for sure what fate awaited their Jewish neighbours after being deported.

Today it's even less credible if people evade into alleging not to know what the Palestinians in Gaza have to endure. Today we have comments in legacy media whose authors openly talk about a genocide happening and people dying by hunger due to the systematic cutting off of life saving ressources.

Will the governments who support Israel in ignoring basic human rights and international law one day held accountable? Western Germany had a lot of Nazis personally responsible for the Holocaust and NS-fascism who not only got off the hook of criminal persecution but who were rewarded for their past as NS-functionaries with high positions in the administrative apparatus and legal institutions of the Bundesrepublik. They could enjoy their pensions while communists who were fighting the Nazis got nothing and were politically repressed even by being jailed again.

Politicians and companies complicit with this genocide will pobably not be prosecuted either - there will be another war or catastrophe even worse than today in whose shadow all will be lost and forgotten ...

To assess the genocide in Gaza as the face of the future requires no special expertise or intellectual properties -
it's the simple logic of governments doing this to a group of civilians whether ethnically, nationally or socially defined as such
is able and willing to do this to any other group if the rationality of exerting and upholding state power demands it.

So it's racism for sure to not count the dead of a non-white population as it is done with any white Christian group - compare for example the reporting about victims of Russian aggression in Ukraine and victims of Israel's genocide in Gaza and the settler colonialism in WestBank in Western media, the normalized ignorance about refugees drowned in the Mediterranean and the help Western tourists will get in a situation their life is endangered in a country of the Global South.

But above that it's the logic of Machiavellin decisionism meaning any means to remain in power and to overcome the enemy de jour legitimizes genocidal policies of all kind - in the end against the own population if it dares to attack the ruling class order.

The de-facto acceptance of genocide is imo not so much about Israel as such as many think because of the special status of this outpost of Western imperialism

Concentrating executive powers in fewer hands against the will of the people isn't happening only under authoritarian regimes

but is the preferred choice in countries like the US as the suppression of small protest events in Los Angeles with the full force of the federal state has shown.

So Gaza is imo a laboratory of HighTech counterinsurgency driven and legitimized by Israel's settler colonialism and the preparation of more robust methods of control

as populations in late stage capitalism tend to resist against being exploited by wage work with less and less income or being written off totally as unproductive surplus populations whose existence is of no use for the accelerated automation of industrial productivity.

This gets evident if you look at the technical innovation being employed by IT-capital in the occupation of Palestine and the profits made by those enterprises in direct connection with the millitary use of their products. IT and AI are the drivers of an accumulation regime that has made capitalism so productive that it has overtaken demand ever more igniting more and more social crisis. One outcome is the general move to invest more state money for militarization which is a quite inefficient form of spendung public money.

All this can be perfectly studied by listening to Naomi Klein and Francesca Albanese presenting her very important report about the relation between IT-innovation, capitalism, warfaring states and booming stock markets.

It was a massacre on soldiers who presented no danger to US troops but got killed by A-10 Gunships and Apache helicopters anyhow. Of course the Palestinians arrested by Israel are political prisoners taken by an illegal occupation force. As long as there is no equality before the law all juridic terms belittle the violence of settler colonialism.

That is even more so if Palestinians - and that means children too - end up in administrative detention where they are held as long as it serves the interests of the occupier without due legal process.

Of course I know how problematic it is to realize this utopian plan, as long as people have forgotten, that they carry their animal nature around with them and are, other than nonhuman animals, able to expand and maximize their predatory drives and social darwinistic behaviour up to the limits of planetary capability.

What we have is a sad state of affairs going deeper down the drain each day - climate catastrophe in full swing yielding false solutions of green capitalism and #colonialism, imperial entities about to cross the threshold of nuclear war, a #genocide in the making while the world stands by watching how Palestinians have to endure living hell, an even greater catastrophe in Sudan that is hardly being noticed at all, #fascism rising welcomed by millions ...

but try to stick to principles in daily life
like not exercising violence against sentient beings, to meet the requirements of a non competitive collectivism, to overcome nationalism for the sake of internationalism, to end binary gender relations and the necessity to organize in stately entities especially as they exert colonial, imperialistic and extractivistic policies.

As you have noticed I don't adhere to Marxism-Leninism - as much as I dislike authoritarian party structures I don't favor a kind of technological positivism

This is not a mere bias, this is blanking out the reality of the victims, who one year after 10/7 are disproportionally maimed and killed by Israel and not by Hamas or other actors on the side of the so-called Axis.

With #Gaza on their mind Lebanese people have to endure harsh anxiety and stress just thinking about the not so far-fetched possibility that they will have to suffer a similar carnage as Palestinians are subjected to since nearly a year.

For Israel it seems to pay out having attacked Gaza in the most brutal and cruel way. They can take advantage from the existencial fear inside of #Lebanon where people know by their own experience what Israel is able and willing to do in occupation and war.

The article is interesting also because fish farming often is underrated in the vast dimensions and the gigantic risks it poses for marine health. Just because it's out of view for most people doesn't mean that it's in any way better than the usual Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO).

Measuring the pain of dying in seconds doesn't consider the endlessness of any imaginable moment in which you are confronted with being totally alone and lost in helplessness.

For me there is no humane butchering that adresses the problems of animals to be killed and consumed

On October 2023, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu was in a hurry to define the objectives of the new Gaza war: “We will turn Gaza into an island of ruins.” Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari was more specific two days later: “We are dropping hundreds of tons of bombs on Gaza. The focus is on destruction, not accuracy.” Less than a year later, it is clear: A genocide could be followed live on the internet for the first time. In addition, Gaza's infrastructure was almost completely destroyed and its cultural heritage irretrievably destroyed. Let's take a closer look at the latter.

The Gaza City Archive was completely destroyed by Israeli shells in November 2023. Thousands and thousands of documents, some over 150 years old, were burned. These included documentation on other historically significant buildings in Gaza City. Hammam al-Samra, a public bath in Gaza, was destroyed by an airstrike by Israeli forces in December 2023. This bath was more than 1,000 years old. Before we consider these circumstances further, it is worth recalling the looting of books during the al-Nakba (expulsion of the Palestinians) in 1948. That was the year Israel was founded. And it continued in the following decades. Especially in the 1970s and 1980s. For example, Israeli archaeologists rode under the protection of the colonial army to the Deier el-Balah excavation site in Gaza and looted 3,000-year-old Canaanite cultural treasures. On display today in Jerusalem in the “Israel Museum”.

Yes, Gaza is extremely rich in archaeological sites. Anyone who has read the accounts of Palestine and the surrounding area in the Old Testament will remember the descriptions of life there. The ancient cities, palaces and trading ports. The peoples of the Philistines, Amorites and the tribes of Canaan, among others, bustled about in the immediate vicinity of the Pharaonic Empire in Egypt, not far from the Hittites and Ancient Greece. The Palestinian archaeologist Fadel al-Otol recently referred to the excavations of the Greek city of Anthedon, which lies two kilometers from the Port of Gaza. Lies? It was a unique center for contemporary art in the Gaza Strip.

Mostly contemporary Palestinian artists exhibited their works here. It was also a meeting place for the artists.

All in all, we have to summarize that most of the culturally significant places in Gaza were either irretrievably destroyed or severely damaged. What this orgy of destruction is supposed to mean in terms of the “art of war” is easy to understand. Destroy the enemy completely! Take his life, his family, his dignity, his house, his street and his cultural identity. We know Heine's saying: “Where you burn books, you end up burning people”, but what does a list of blown-up libraries in Gaza tell us? Of course, only that the genocide in Palestine will only end when the population there has been exterminated or expelled.

In contrast, the global Gaza solidarity movement since October 2023 shows many things: Gaza has many friends and supporters. But Israel is more isolated than ever. The images of the documented crimes in Gaza are etched in people's minds worldwide. And yes, the accomplices in this crime, led by the USA, led by the FRG, led by the bought hypocrites from Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, are all pretty lonely. Especially when we realize that the Western values have not spoken with one voice this time. Gaza is the focal point of all liberation struggles worldwide. All the contradictions of imperialism have coagulated there into blood and rubble. However, the empire continues to totter and is increasingly rotting. That gives hope.

that can result in waging bloody wars against each other.

Of course there are differences in the policies that governments employ and there is some room to maneuver in certain areas like social transfers or market rules.

But in the end imo the crisis of not being able to avoid waging brutal wars let alone to tackle climate catastrophe thereby taking the risk of large destructions of livelihoods into account results in taking the road of national expansion and domination against others as the most practical way of survival

not of all people worldwide but of those who have the bigger economic and military impact against those who are locked into a state of unsustaining wage worke and ressource extraction.

Francesca Albanese represents the positive voice of the UN, the ideal that states could actually solve their problems peacefully under the rule international law.

Sadly it's not like this, states act more than ever since WW2 as entrepreneurs of military and economic power, as subjects totally determined by a competition that they themselves institutionalized in the form of neoliberal #capitalism that has minimized the agency of state and juridical actors quite a bit.

Palestinians and other people who have to bear the brunt of this militarized form of state competition have no say in this, that's why the UN and international courts have to act as their representatives.
