Happy Solar New Year! My goal for this quarter is to figure out what kind of work I want to start looking for, and to put together a solid resume. To that end, I have a favor to ask. If you have any recent experience with looking for work, or any experience hiring folks, I'd like to pick your brain. If you've been looking for work or found a job, I want to know what worked for you and what didn't. If you're a hiring manager, I want to know what you look for, what kinds of questions you ask, and any other advice or ideas you may have. My initial list of questions is short, but I'm sure it will evolve as I talk to more folks. If you're up for having a chat with me, let me know and I will send you a meeting schedule link.

Boosts greatly appreciated.

#GetFediHired #HiringAdvice

My task tracking has, for years, been done in a document of some kind. I currently have a todo list 1300 lines long, including completed items. It's a single Markdown document, full of notes about various tasks. I mark subtasks as "DONE" as I do them, and when an overall task is completed, I mark it done, and move it to the bottom of the document. Unfortunately, it is reaching a point where it is no longer working for me. To that end, I'd like some help finding another solution.

Ideal features:
- Markdown
- History tracking on a line-by-line basis (I'd like to know when I added a particular note)
- Ability to archive completed tasks in a way that leaves them visible somewhere
- Option for long-form notes, in list form or otherwise (I have a few tasks with a lot of details)
- Ability to categorise tasks, but view them all together
- Ability to customise categories, labels, etc.
- Minimal learning-curve preferred, but at this point I'm willing to dig into something new if it fits what I need
- MacOS compatible is a necessity. Android support is an added bonus.

So... Hivemind! What are you using to manage your tasks and projects?

Boosts appreciated. (Apologies ahead of time for potential extra notifications; I may edit this to add more features if I think of them.)

That's what was compounding the font size change on the page I was trying to update vs. the original site. I'm trying to override it for the specific divs I need, since I assume it's that way for a reason, but it's not working. I'm certain there's some incantation to make it happen, but I'm certainly not managing it. 🤦🏻‍♀️ #HTML #CSS

I've moved to a new Fedihome! That means it's time for a new #intro post.

Welcome to Kattstodon! I'm Kattni (she/her).

I am a maker, photographer, programmer, mentor, community builder and maintainer, intermittent chef, air plant cultivator, fledgling synth nerd, and collector of excellent bags. I am #neurodivergent and #queer from many angles. I am tolerated by a cat who continues to let me live with her.

I am a content creator, creating approachable information, project builds, and tutorials. I am passionate about sharing what I learn and know with others who are interested, and this is my opportunity to do that full-time. Everything I find interesting is a potential topic, which means anything from history, to community, to tech, to programming, to photography, to biology, to office organisation, and onward. You can find me on [Patreon](https://www.patreon.com/kattni) and [GitHub Sponsors](https://github.com/kattni). I am currently sharing all of my content on my blog, [kattni.com](https://kattni.com). I am working to build a community around my content, so please consider joining me on my new adventure.

I am Conference Chair for [PyOhio](https://pyohio.org). 2024 is the first time I'd done any kind of volunteering or conference organising of any kind, and it has been an adventure full of a ton of work. I am grateful to my amazing team, all of whom have made this situation possible for me.

I've done various speaking engagements, including being a 2019 keynote speaker at PyOhio, even though public speaking terrifies me. My most recent engagements were at two summits at PyCon US 2025: the Education Summit, and the Community Organisers Summit. It was great to share things I was passionate about.

I left my job in September 2023 to pursue my passions. I spent the previous six years working with the CircuitPython project. I was an open source community leader, technical writer, new contributor coordinator, embedded software developer, CircuitPython library codebase manager, and embedded hardware designer, among other things.

There is definitely more to me than this, but I think this is a solid introduction to my current situation. Thanks for reading, and I hope to see you around the Fediverse!
