It is the entire concept of rehabilitation. <br/>This goes for a lot of different types of crime. Very few people just do it to do it, there&#39;s almost always a problem that, if taken care of, can make a less harmful person.<br/>(I don&#39;t quite like phrasing it that way but I don&#39;t know how better to do it.)<br/><br/>So it seems a little strange to me that this seems to still be a very hot take when we bring that to the conversation of Paraphilia or sexual abuse in general. <br/>Many people who I imagine may otherwise be in favor of rehabilitation over punishment will find reason why these groups specifically should be exempt from rehabilitation.<br/>Many who I assume believe protecting mental health reduces overall harm across the board will find whatever arbitrary reasons for why Paraphiles specifically should be exempt, and simply need to be wiped off the map.<br/>This is even more cruel when many of them do whole heartedly believe MAPs only exist because they were sexually abused.<br/><br/>I have many suspicions for why this happens, but I do still find it strange that this happens in the first place.<br/><br/>Saying that protecting the mental health of MAPs is a good starting point to protecting children is not some kind of threat of harm in response to people being &#39;kinda mean&#39;.<br/>In almost every single case of intentional harm, and even many cases of unintentional harm, there is some emotional or mental problem that was the cause.<br/>This is also not saying that a person is not responsible for their actions because they are.
